Right now i'm laughing merrily at the other users in my office, as their comps are infected with virus and the sys admin is busy cleaning and formatting all the windows machines.

Why do you want to stick with Tally itself ? There are several good accounting packages available for linux.

It's all a matter of freedom and choice, which I enjoy mostly.

And if you want to use Tally iteself, you can use tools like wine.

sorry guys i m not a fan of linux .I used it in my comp (PIV 128RAM) and it is very very slow. so i turn back to windows xp and its far faster than linux (redhat linux). And for the ppl who knows a little about computer it is more easier to use XP than linux. Only problem is it is not free.

Actually, what caused the slowness was the gnome desktop environment used by redhat. Its good in many ways, but certainly slower than windows. However, you can use another desktop environment like XFCE or IceWM in its place, which is much faster. Being able to choose each component of the system is one of the reasons I prefer linux over other operating systems.

Only that you've choice of using lightweight Window Managers, you've choice of using lightweight distros too. 128 MB is too few for RedHat with GNOME. Try something like Mandriva, ArchLinux etc., or try using FWM, XFCE or something like that.

My little sis (Age 9) hardly knows anything about kernels, hardware, modules, filesystem, blah, blah, and find no trouble using my FC4 Box.

Satissh S

I use only linux on my home computer. I started using it since my friend introduced it to me and it was free of cost. But, along the way I have grown very fond of it and threw windows out of my computer. I feel linux is every which way better than Windows including XP.
And rajesh do u expect anyone accessing this part of the forum(Open Source) to answer that they hate linux. That would be rare though one case has already emerged and that person said what he did because he lacked the knowledge of GNU/Linux.
