I like happy SSH
Hmmm.. like saving settings into a config file???

PuTTY does not currently support storing its configuration in a file instead of the Registry. However, you can work around this with a couple of batch files.

You will need a file called (say) PUTTY.BAT which imports the contents of a file into the Registry, then runs PuTTY, exports the contents of the Registry back into the file, and deletes the Registry entries. This can all be done using the Regedit command line options, so it's all automatic. Here is what you need in PUTTY.BAT:

@ECHO OFF
regedit /s putty.reg
regedit /s puttyrnd.reg
start /w putty.exe
regedit /ea new.reg HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SimonTatham\PuTTY
copy new.reg putty.reg
del new.reg
regedit /s puttydel.reg

This batch file needs two auxiliary files: PUTTYRND.REG which sets up an initial safe location for the PUTTY.RND random seed file, and PUTTYDEL.REG which destroys everything in the Registry once it's been successfully saved back to the file.

Here is PUTTYDEL.REG:

REGEDIT4

[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SimonTatham\PuTTY]

Here is an example PUTTYRND.REG file:

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SimonTatham\PuTTY]
"RandSeedFile"="a:\\putty.rnd"

You should replace a:\putty.rnd with the location where you want to store your random number data. If the aim is to carry around PuTTY and its settings on one floppy, you probably want to store it on the floppy.

Let me look and see if that will help. Thanks Shinobi.

No problem.. I never thought of making or saving a file from that..
I use Putty to remote into my Linux boxes, that do not have a monitor hooked up to them.

Maybe you can help me with something then Shinobi. I have created an .htaccess file for a directory to password protect it. I know everything in the code is correct except for the path to where the username and password information is stored. For example...inside of the root directory I created a directory called ".info" where all the passwords etc. are to be stored. Wouldn't the path to there be "/root/.info" ??

Read this page: http://www.troubleshooters.com/linux/prepostpath.htm
I got to admit, I do not do hardly any "coding" per se,
however, I think this page has the answer you seek.
Look towards the middle.. maybe more so, down towards the bottom.
It looks like "bash" shell, because of the "$" sign the guy is using for his examples.
Also to note: even though it says "debug like a Ninja" on the top of the page,
this is purely coincidental, although welcomed.. and a sign of quality info.

I myself.. am trying to learn SQL..
Going to buy a book methinks.. yep
Be happy today.

"This is what should be in the .htaccess file

AuthUserFile /usr/www/dirname/.htpasswd
AuthGroupFile /dev/null
AuthName "The ebook directory"
AuthType Basic

<Limit GET POST>
require valid-user
</Limit>

You only need to change two of the above lines. Change the AuthUserFile line so that the UNIX PATH matches that of your system. This is where the password file will reside. "

That's the problem I am having. I seem to be getting the path wrong.

So from the /root/ directory you cant type "nano .info" and view it from there?
