going to Europe

Let me start by syaing that I have never owned a notebook and I don't know too much about some technical basics. I will go to Europe for a few months and I'm thinking about getting a notebook to take along. My question is if the A/C adaptors can be switched to European voltage/cycles, or if an additional travel device is needed. Also any other tips re selection of a note book suitable fot travel to Europe would be appreciated.

You can buy an adapter kit that will allow you to connect your notebook to a different voltage outlet. The adapter may be able to work in Europe, but don't take my word for it, I've never been to Europe. Best thing to do is contact the notebook manufacturer to be sure.

going to Europe

Simply using a power converter for the specific country you're going to should suffice, every country in Europe has a different outlet shape/size and voltages so you'll need to be aware of buying the right adapter.

When buying a notebook you might want to look at manufacturers that offer international warranties such as Fujitsu, Dell, HP or Toshiba although that'll cost more.
