shutdown button gone missing

i just connected my PC to my home network and onto my servers active directory....and went to restart my machine by pressing the red circle thing on the top right hand corner and i notice the shutdown icon has gone missing...i can only logout, switch screen, switch user and hibernate.....

could this be because i have things mounted or is it supposed to be like that after connecting to my windows domain.

P.S. is there anyway to automatically unmount everything when i want to shutdown......is there any need to unmount to shut down?

Perhaps you have another user logged in and you need to try logging out first so that they can log out too? Have you used Switch Users?

Just guessing...

Go throught these steps first, it might be this simple:

System > Administration > Login Window .... [x] Show Actions menu (check this)

I'm not sure whether KUbuntu have its own forum, but I have the same problem - in KUbuntu 7.10.

However, the "Login Window Preferences" are not available under "System > Administration > Login Window .... [x] Show Actions menu (check this)".

How do I solve this using KDE on KUbuntu?

edit: Saw now that there are KUbuntu areas here as well as a separate domain for KUbuntu. I don't like cross-posting. So, I'll wait and hope for an answer here before I post some where else.

Bump: seems several people are having this problem (including me) with no answer. Should there be a bug report filed?

Oof! Thanks, dolphinsonar! I don't know how I disabled it, but I went to bed VERY confused about it last night!
