Just thought i'd let you know about a problem i faced recently with paypal.
Heres the scenario:
1. I have a Verified International Business Account and been a member for well over one year
2. Paypal informs me that the Visa card i have on file is about to expire and that i should add another card to my profile to allow me to continue accpecting / sending payments
3. I log in and add a new Visa card to my file
4. Make the new card the primary card
5. Delete the expiring card
Next thing i notice is that My Status has now become Unverified....
So i think....thats ok...i'll just enter those two small security codes that they charge to your card (that appear on your statement)
.....But NO!
No charges appeared on my Card....(apart from them charging me a $1.95 membership fee)
I tried clicking on a Get Verified button that has now appeared on my profile...but it only takes me to the Add a new Card page.....which would mean me paying a membership fee again!
So i email paypal customer support and explain the problems i faced.... the reply i get says.....basically there is nothing that they can do .... Visa has some regulations that Paypal isn't allowed to send the verification code charges to the same customer more that once (even though its a different Card). And that if i want to become Verified i now have to add a different (non Visa) credit card.

This system blows! So this means that if i only had visa cards....i wouldn't be able to do anything till i applied to my bank or whatever for a MasterCard or Amex!!!!

You sure about that??? that sucks
why did you change your card in the first place? can you ask your bank to give you the same visa card with extended expiration date instead so you don't have to change what you already have on their file?

Yep....very sure.
Changed card because it was expiring and the bank sent me a new one. I know it sucks! Am going to have to get an Amex or something now and add that to my account.

hey...do a double check and see if there is a 4 digit varification number next to the 1.95 on you credit card statement. That's the number you need to varify yer account.

Thanks...but there isn't any 4 digit number....neither is there anywhere on the PayPal website (once i've logged in) where i can enter this number! If i click the "Get Verified" link it just tells me to add another card.
