looked thru the forum but am still a little confused.

Im thinking of buying an xbox 360 elite.

now i have a lcd screen thats a few years old and only has a DVI-I input.

can i use an hdmi - dvi adapter such as this

so i can achieve the best image
and will the audio pass thru this cable to ?
all will i need further cables.
im not sure whats supplied in the xbox360elite packaging.

basically what will i need to view and hear my xbox at
its best resolution. the screen does have a separate dvi audio connector
if thats reqd, and the usual scart and rca connectors. just not
a hdmi port. it is an hd ready screen.

you will get video but no sound as DVI is video only, you will need audio leads to go into the pc input for the DVI sound.

Ive got mine setup using a DVI adapter, if you get an elite you get an audio dongle which plugs into the AV plug, on this is an optical out for 5.1 or just your normal stereo left and right, so if you havent got an amp to plug the optical cable into it for 5.1 and just want the sound to go to your tv then you you just connect it upto via the stereo left and right straight into the back of your tv alongside the DVI port
