Whats resolution can play in 1440x900

the monitor I am getting is a Samsung 19widescreen with 1440x900 as res. now I have never heard of this before, so my question is, what's the highest can play it at, eg 720p, 720i, 1080i/1080p? which one?

BTW, the video card is a 8800GTS 320MB that supports HDCP as well as the monitor.

And if you were a Canadian, and this store is offering better pricing than NCIX.com, would you buy from here and would you trust them? the store is Lucomputers.com

EDIT: while checking lucomputers ebay feedback, I decided to go with them afterall, the got very very good feedback, there were only 3 negative ones and they seemed to be the buyer's fault anyways.

Why's the video card relevant if you're going to hook up a PS3 to the monitor?

The monitor has to be HDCP-compatible, not the video card.

As for if you hook up a console; well I'm guessing it'll be stretched, unless your monitor scales differently. 16:9 source image on a 16:10 monitor, you're bound to get an imperfect picture.

Sorry, house...since you said you had a 8800GTS, I thought you were asking about PC resolutions.

For PS3, it'll have to be 720p or 1080i. I think 1080i may work better but just try either and see what sort of quality you get.

Whats the maximum resolution your monitor runs at? If its 1440x900, its 16:10 ratio rather than the ordinary 16:9 ratio.

720 and 1080 are 16:9 resolutions, and I dunno if you'll be able to play well on it(without the image being stretched out).

Well, you don't run interlaced resolutions on PC.

Answer simply: you'll run at 1440x900 lol.

720p, 1080p are just TV standards, not PC. You'll be fine.

Your pc monitor can't display 1080i because it's highest resolution is 1440x900. The highest resolution you can play with your ps3 is 720p (1280x720). If you try to play at 1440x900 it will probably look distorted.

I am guessing the regular 16:9, I am mainly getting it because of the response time/ contrast ratio/ Sexy and black by Samsung for $229canadian.

Basically you should be ok. Monitors generally can up-or-down scale pretty much any source to fit the screen (the cable is more the likely to be the limiting factor).

For your PS3 you should set it to 1080p for better quailty, though 720p should be fine as well as you should be able to set your monitor to fill the screen.

And for the screen ratio, it is 16:10 but you shouldn't worry as the monitor should have an option for fitting 720p in the right size ratio thingy
