IMPORTANTOS: Continue HERE IN THIS TOPIC
Welcome to a step-by-step tutorial on how to get the most views and replies and to maximize flame in your topic.
The Basics
First lets get the obvious out of our way. Obviously it is of vital importance to emphasize your opinion and thoughts by the excessive use of exclamation and question marks like so: "LOL!!?!?!?!". Also dont forget caps. I mean come on, big=better, right.
Secondly, include a poll in every single topic you make cause its the most reliable method of measuring.
Third, make sure you post your topic in the wrong section. Its scientifically proven that you will get the most attention for your topic if you place it somewhere where people have nothing to do with your subject. For example its better to put a "Killzone2/Halo3 zomg-wtf-bbq kicks ass?!?!!" in the section for the competing console. I mean, you'r trying to enlighten some individuals with your groundbreaking research right, better do that where people need enlightenment.
Finally, these so called "rumors" that roam the web are obviously based on some sorta facts. It is of vital importance that if you encounter a gossip regarding for example a game going to a certain console or other important developments on some 2nd ranked foreign blog site to pick it up and spread the word. Use wikipedia as your source if needed, they call it an encyclopedia for a reason, they dont lie.
Lets start
Allright lets get down to the nitty gritty. I will now provide you with 10 prime examples of topic(titles) that will be a guarenteed hit on any game forum. The success of your topic bends or breaks on your use of the principle guidelines and the subject of the topic.
To stay strong in my own words I will not give the Top 10 myself but include a fancy POLL to get people to vote on their favourite. 1 Month after the start of this topic we will see who is the winner and then I will do a quick search for the topic to see how many hits I have. After checking each and every one of them I will judge them by quality, quantity, stupidity and fanboy-y and reward the best one with 250 GTD!
Here is the list!
Option A: Poll! Who's gonna buy xxx?!?!??!
Here's a good starter off. Take any highly anticipated game and put a topic up asking who's gonna buy it and why. If the game is still in its alpha stage with some dodgy concept screens be sure to label them as final or praise their graphics even though the game is a year away from a possible release. (Example: Alan Wake brought to you by our friendly neighberhood moron labwarrior). This topic will definitly get pages of interesting replies to boost your morale. Expect heavy-hitters like "me", "hell yeah I am" or "No multiplayer, so no". Remember, less is more so short replies are the best.
Option B: Poll! I just got a xxx what should I get?!?!
FAQs, Official Websites with general info, Google and common sense are overrated. If you want fast and personal advice/information you
NEED to open up a topic. Especially if you just picked up a console and you dont have a clue what games to get. Well actually you do, but you just want to let other people know you just bought a console, cause you'r happy and stuff.
Basically the idea here is to be as cryptical as possible. The only concrete information you'r gonna be giving your mystery helpers is the amount of money you can spend, always overexaggurate and add a few extra 0's. Like:

I JUST GOT A PS3!!!! WHAT GAMES TO GET?!? Hey guys, I just got a PS3 and I love it, I have a few games but I REALLY want some more. I have 500$ to spend and I want 13 games. What top10 do YOU recommend? BRB POOP TOILET

For maximum attention its vital you get as many responses as possible. You'r trying to spread a statement here you know. You have a PS3, they dont, but you want to know what games they would get, so then you can pretend that you'r gonna get m and they'r not. I mean its kindergarden logic.
Option C: Weekly Hardware/Software Sales, xxx ROCKS, xxx SUCKS
Numbers are everything. Without them we would have no clue on why we are buying our games. Gaming is not about games ofcourse, its about numbers.
The important part is how we interprete and present these numbers. If your favourite console doesnt sell as good as it should be then be sure to twist it around with a valid and/or made-up excuse to validate the difference in numbers. Based on these numbers people will buy their console, dont forget! People want/need day-by-day reports of every region soft- and hardware sales to boost morale and to get more people buying consoles.
Option D: Poll! xxx vs yyy - WHATS BETTER?! YOU DECIDE!!!!
Comparison topics are one of the best! But the key here is to pick good titles to compare. A guarenteed hit on any game-board is to pick two highly anticipated and/or released games on competing consoles of different genres! Preferably games that aren't released. Any comparison for that matter is good. Game vs Game or Console vs Console. You can receive bonus points if you pick titles there are still at least a year away from release with as limited information as possible, say like Final Fantasy XV (15) or Halo 5 (It doesnt matter if the game doesnt even excist yet). Another example is like Uncharted vs CoD4/Halo3 and then bash the first for not having multiplayer. Comparing apples with oranges equals banana's. And who doesnt like banana's?
Option E: Is xxx also coming to xxx?!?! or
US/EU PSN UPDATE TOMORROW?!?!?
As an example here take Home or any other hyped up product/service. If a rumor floats the web concerning a possible early surprise release further strengthened by numerous duplicate other topics like "OMG HOME TOMORROW?!?!" then dont post in an excisting topic (basic mistake) but make sure to make a new topic. Also say like there's a rumor that Home will be released next week but the rumor (!!) doesnt say that its for EU/US and/or JAP! How do you know if you can take this rumor serious? People on forums usually know these things so try to get the
rumor officially confirmed by other forum members. Topics like: "IS HOME COMING TO EU AS WELL TOMORROW?!". Let it be clear that you are aware that its a rumor, but you need some solid proof. Forums are built around these questions and are the place to get answers to any rumor-questions.
Option F: CONFIRMED PROOF THAT xxx is BIASED against xxx!!!!
If a big (or small) website is bitching on your favourite game/console with/without any solid arguements you need to step up and let the public know not to listen to them. Again its not important if they actually are, what is important is that you speak your mind up. Forums are community functions and they feed on your opinion. But feel free to further strengthen your opinion by making up stuff. Keep the basics in mind.
Option G: This topic.
Its a compilation of all the other options so its a guarenteed nominee. Plus its sure to annoy a lot of people who dont like reading.
Option H: Every topic that starts with "My friend.."
Face it. Giving a solid source in your topic increases your credibility. If that source happens to be your friend, or better yet a friend of a friend (double-reliability) then do name them. Definitly if it concerns something Co0l like "my friend told me that GTA4 is X360 exclusive". The word needs to be spread and you are the person in charge for doing so so have at it trooper!
Option I: Poll: Is xxx any good?
If you'r in doubt wether to buy a game or not, you could just read up on some reviews, do some research, google a little or check the excisting topics.
OR you can get a personal advice by opening a new topic. Again a topic is preferably cause then you dont have to count the actual replies and do the _math_ yourself. Be sure not to include any personal information like if you actually like the genre or what kinda game you'r looking for. Also the most efficient way of opening a topic like this is to have a rolling topic-title-message. Like having the topic: "Hey is xxx" and the actual message "any good?" That way it saves you the trouble of having to open two sentances. Plus it looks sweet. Also if you'r looking for a good TV or any other non-related equipment make a topic! Beauty's such as "WHAT TV SHOU I GET, I HAVE 500$ AND 2 GOATS" are a guarenteed winner.
Option J: Any general RTFM(1) topic.
Face it, ~50% of the question-topics can be solved with a 5second google search. Most likely first hit as well. But you would miss out on the joy of giving your fellow forum visitor the feeling that he contributed somewhere. So questions like "CAN I PLAY xxx ON xxx?!?!" are great. Also impossible questions asking for impossible answers do the trick. Topics like "Who will win TEH-CONSOLE-WAR"? I couldn't think up a better example on the fly but you know what im talking about.
There you have it!
10 prime examples on how to get the most attention on your topic. Im sure I forgot a few so for your and our convenience I included an 11th option where you can reply here with your own idea for a succesful topic on a gaming forum such as the PS3 section here.
Hope this helped you out a bit and I know some of you will be held back by all the text it is a good read. I tried to find any suitable pictures to go with this topic. But not to scare of a lot of people here is a picture of a bunny with a pancake on his head.

Should do the trick!
