I think there is a company that will buy off amazon and send to you for a fee, but they also add on imprort charges....

If I was going to import I'd use either VG+ or NTSC. I bought a PSP from NTSC and not only was it shipped the same day, they marked it down as a $50 warranty repair so that it avoided the attention of custums and excise. VG+ have been known to get PS2's through unnoticed.

$299 is abit unrealistic me thinks.

Prepare to add another $299 to that price once the PS3 actually comes out.

Its also a long wait. Not due in Japan till next year. What about the US?

I had the chance to pre order a 360 but decided I wouldnt bother as I plan to wait till MS include an HD DVD drive.

By then prices will have come down and I will have had a chance to see the games in action.

Being a PC gamer i have a feeling I wont be that impressed with at least the first batch of games.

Dont get caught up in this pre order fever coz companies have been known to take pre oreder money and then suddenly go bankrupt!!

I've bought games off NTSC in the past and they have been very good. I imagine you could have confidence by buying hardware off them too.

Absolutely no chance the PS3 will be $299. Well not unless the 360 has sold 20 million units before its even launched.

I think Sony have learned with the PSP and the xbox you cant discount hardware that heavily if you want to make money, and Sony need to make money on the PS3.

I think PS3 prcing will be very simialr to the 360s on launch ?249 - ?299.

THink is like every Sony console they know they ca sell everyone they manufacture. So why sell for such silly money ?

i agree but i think it'll cost much more than ?299. i'm reckoning ?399 minimum at release, since Sony are planning for it to have double the length of the normal life cycle of a console, which is typically around 5 years. i wouldn't even be surprised to see it released at ?499 judging by the technology inside it, i mean it makes the xbox 360 look like a toaster.

I've preordered from the amazon.fr site. Do they now have to honour the deal, as they have accepted my order with their confirmation email?

Sadly no. No contract takes place until they take your money, until then it is just an invitation to treat. The confirmation email is just to notify you of your pre-order. They also state on the French site that the price and release date is subject to change.
