Getting DTS Output
I've just acquired a surround sound system and have got the PS3 feeding the amp 5.1 via optical link no problem, but I can't get it to do DTS.
Im playing a DVD which claims to use DTS, both the 5.1 and 5.1 DTS options are selected in audio settings on the PS3 and the BD/DVD optical output is set to bitstream. However the amp manual says it has an indicator on the front panel when DTS signal is input, this is not appearing.
Any ideas ? could the box for the DVD be lying (its "Downfall" btw) or is the PS3 decoding the DTS and sending regular 5.1 to the amp ?
I did try disabling normal 5.1 in the audio settings, this just resulted in the amp receiving PCM...
Would try another disc but none of the others I have to hand claim to support DTS..

Getting DTS Output
Did you enable the DTS option in the DVD's audio options menu ?
DTS is never enabled by default in DVD's, blu-rays and HD-DVD's as not all amps can support it. If you try to use DTS with a non-supporting amp it can damage the amp.

Getting DTS Output
The amp is a sony STR-DE445, its a fairly old thing but was dirt cheap, seemed rude to pass it by
Auto surround seems to happen automatically, it just seems to suck up whatever its given and tells you what it is on the display.
I can't find anything about selecting DTS in the settings other than
Settings -> Sound Settings -> Audio Output Settings
Where I select digital optical out, in here
I've got dolby digital 5.1 Ch and DTS 5.1 Ch ticked, along with a couple of the PCM options.
Is this what you mean moogle ?

no he meant on the dvd itself. DTS is never enabled as the default sound track (actually thats not correct, i know of at least one film that does) and you have to select the audio track in the dvd's menu system
