PS3 with TVersity

I have attempted to use my PS3 with TVersity for the first time over my wired network. It's always worked well with my 360 and now that I've swapped from wireless to wired (via homeplugs) it's even better.

So, the PS3 picks up TVersity as a media server...and it 'sees' all my files...however, they all show up as 'unsupported file'

If I go into the options for each file on the PS3 and choose to view information, the filename is there but the PS3 wont play it.

Can anyone help?

Probably best advice I can give you is to check out the Tversity forums as there are a ton of answers on this particular problem.

http://forums.tversity.com/

I found most of issues resolved there.

I had the problem of it not playing video files, where as the previous day they had played, all i did was click on the file in TVersity and clicked update[when the box opended]and they played fine....

Don't know if it will help you to try that....

Sounds like you have a problem with your codec files Sorry if you know this already but they are the small files that TVersity uses to translate the videos and music to a format that the PS3 understands hen they are being streamed.

The forums on TVersity web site will really help - do a search for the file type of the files that you want to play.

I found that the best thing to do was to uninstall all of the codecs I had already (found in control panel, Add Remove Programs) and install one of the packs of codecs on www.free-codecs.com. People recommend ffdshow or this one:

Good luck - took me a while to get it sorted!

Oh yes, nearly forgot. The other thing to do is in the settings panel, tell TVersity to always transcode, and pick the PS3 from the list of devices rather than have it automatically detect. That may help as well
