Do you think the 360 get this in an update?

If the gamers want it and PS3 has it, i can see it happening.

MS seam to be doing everything right at the mo, so wouldn't want to dissapoint.

I could be wrong but i dont think they want the 360 to look like its a pc so i dont think it will have a web browser ...im quite happy if they want prove me wrong and add one though

Im sure the Wii has a web browser aswell which im buying so that'll be ok for me but i do have my laptop in front room so i dont really need any on a console a nice option though .

I just don't see why a web browser would be needed by the vast majority of console owners. You would also then need a keyboard and mouse, plus also a flat surface near your TV on which to use them - let's face it, how many of us have desks facing our TVs?

Many 360 users also use SD displays - web browsing at SD resolutions would be horrible. Web content would be unlikely to be very rich without the like of Shockwave, Flash, Java etc too.

Not to mention that downloading files would quickly fill up the puny 20GB HDD, and sharing/streaming files between PC and 360 is something only a fraction of us do.

Not having a web browser is certainly not a deal breaker for me - I'll just use one of the several PCs and lappies that are scattered around my flat!

I.e. browse the news, weather and entertainment stories. (shouldn't be too hard to hard to hax up the msn today page and make it xbox friendly).

I agree it's not essential, as most peoiple just pop on their pc to browse, with a mouse and keyboard.

But for an odd occasion, it may be useful.

The Wii & PS3 & PSP all have browsers for news bullitins and weather etc., so MS may feel left out if they don't add a simpler browser.

Actually I would like to see some sort of browsing ability, ideally I'd like to be able to have some guide's opening in the background of my game for when I get stuck (it would have been a life saver for finding the mini kits in Lego Starwars.

I've got a laptop set up so I can easily use it on my TV or PJ, the internet on the TV is poor with very small writing and looks even worse if you increase the size.

It works OK on the PJ but it's not very practical so I don't bother. The internet is for moniters being close to the user imo.

If my 360 was internet capable I doubt very much I would ever use it.

You can view BBC news and a few other things on the 360 through the online content option MCE, if you have it.

Dont see the need for a dedicated browser myself.

As for the PS3 having, it's probably just a "look at what we can do" effort from $ony.

Just be cause you can doesnt mean you should, IMO.

I'd like to see an update for it myself. Being a 16 year old living at home using the family PC, I'm not always able to get on the PC myself (my fathers almost as bad as me for hogging it lol). So a web browser just to check email, and other little things.

But yea, the SD thing could be a problem. Although saying that, the PSP isn't too bad, the biggest problem with browsing the web on the PSP IMO is there is no keyboard and mouse, the actual resolution of the screen doesn't seem to make it THAT bad.

In regards to web browsing on the 360 there are 2 points here.

1. Microsoft want gamers to connect their 360 to the PC for the ultimate Home Media experience. of course with the PC you can surf the net so i think MS want people to do it that way. They don't want the hassle of virus'

2. The PS3 has a whole computer Opertaing System and Linux. Plus apparently SONY don't intend to allow the PS3 to connect or work with the PC so as it's using a computer OS then a web browser will be available through that.

Personally, i don't want to see it as it opens up for Virus' even if SONY don't believe it, give it a month and it will be hacked and maybe recieve virus'

Plus the would need a keyboard and mouse and i don't want that. The 360 is a games console not a PC. Although i do like the idea of widgets with weather and stuff
