When I signed up with Paysystems I asked for a rate around 3% and $1 USD per transaction. However, now that I got my Merchant contract papers it states that my rate per transaction will be 4.95% plus $1 USD/transaction.

I emailed them about it, and this is what they wrote back:

Our underwriting department adjusts rates in accordance with standards for higher risk industries. The rates that are quoted on our website represent our rates for lower risk industries

Now, what they heck is that? Anyone had this same issue or what?

Is 2checkout just like that?

I think there really are different rates.
I have been told by paysystems that since my site is selling low risk products (stock photography) I may be able to negotiate for a lower rate than advertised.
