With all the games coming out and the excitement for gamers to finally get their hands on the titles that they been wanting to play for awhile. It is easy to over look one of the most Coolest feature that will be apply to those games an a console IMO. That is Live Anywhere, this is one of the reason I think Forza 2 got pushed back to 07. With this HUGE update that we will be seeing in 07, it will bring new and innovative features to future games as well as expand on the existing one's.

Let's take Viva Pinata for an example. A lot of people in this forum who have the title, love it an I will be picking up a copy soon, but there is also a lot of people that don't get a enough time with their consoles. Just imagine being at work and trading pinata's from your cell phone!. Or monitoring your garden activities from your pc or cell phone. Being able to take that XBLA game on the go, knowing that no matter what platform you are on everything is connected from your gamer tag, friend list, Achievements, Gamer score,etc.

I think this is what will separate MS from the competition.

Actually, in Japan they already have some stuff like this in place... It's call Suica, and it's like a universal pass. You scan your cell phone like a key card to use the train or pay for fast food... which by the way... coolest thing ever, while I was in Japan I saw a girl in front of me at McDonald order and pay on her cell then pick it up at the counter. >_< Why can't we have that here...

Anyways. I'm pretty sure that for the entire life of the 360, Live Anywhere will be confined realistically to Vista PCs only.

It doesn't have to windows mobile. It can also be Java base as well.

It has to have the framework for the Live Anywhere system. I can't imagine Microsoft writing Live Anywhere in Java after they spent so many billions of dollars creating .NET for the sole purpose of competing with Java.

Regardless, almost no phones allow you to run unsigned applications. The amount of coordination with phone companies and phone manufacturers that such a Live Anywhere implementation would take in order to actually reach a large market, i.e. the hundreds of millions of phones that are already bought, not the few million that might be bought next year, is enormous.

Microsoft might have "phone support" for Live Anywhere, but I very seriously doubt that it will be anything but a little feature on paper for this generation. Just like IPTV.

I like the idea of Live Anywhere on the PC for things like car modifications for Forza....it would be good if you could perform real time changes on the PC while driving around the track but I'm not getting into this Mobile Phone business.

Mobile phones seem to be moving faster than PCs at the moment.
One minute theyre new, the next theyre ancient.
I cant see myself playing live on a phone

Its a nice feature but I can't see myself using this, ever. Unless there would be a game that would require you to stare at your screen 24/7, I.E real time strategy games that wouldn't stop even if you logged out. Then I would use my cell phone to check if someone is attacking me or not. Don't see any games like web based Strategy games coming out for Live so no use for me.

The problem with this is you need this and that and this and that and the other.

I really can't wait to play with PC gamers. That opens up a new world to gaming. I can't wait, I really can't. Live anywhere sounds like an awesome idea. Too bad Shadowrun looks like crap .

i think some people are missing the point of live anywhere.
you dont need to buy anything extra to use it(nothing i know of)
its something on top of things you already have or will get, vista, java phones.
the phone support will be used to trade gamercards and play some arcade games. I dont think they will be used to extend console games, maybe they will but i think the main gaming will be things like zuma or hexic, and classics like galaga and tetris.
for pc gaming its with vista, and most likly you'll end up with a computer that has vista on it. this is were the cross platform gaming comes in and games for windows using your live account.

also cross console voice chat is awsome.

I think the 360 should open it's doors to more then PC Gamers, but to PS3 Gamers as well. But of course MS won't do that because they think they are so much better.
But if there is a game that is on all those systems, take Unreal Tournament 2007 for example, then wouldn't you want to play with your friend who has a PS3 and PC?

Why not? Sony aren't charging people to play games online ergo they're not trying to sell the ability to play games online like XBL.

Plus with UT07 supporting Keyboard and Mouse PC and PS3 gamers can pit against each other on an even playing field, it's really all down to if Epic wants to.

Apart from one mobile operator mobile internet data tariffs are expensive as hell over here.

Because even though they do not charge to play online they do certify all games that get sold. These two companies are in direct competition.

And yes you can play against pc players over live as well.

Sony has been spouting an open online service since forever so devs can more or less do what they want on it, as long as they link up a universal ID at the very least.

If anything, this is watering the 360 brand down. So it looks like most 360 games will get pushed by MS to be released on Vista as well? Because if all i can do on Vista is customize, I'm not going to do it. Isn't that where the 360 is supposed to come in? Or can't it do it? It'd be really pointless to push some features on Vista if you should be able to do it on the 360. And do i want to customize some cars on a cell phone? Or do I want to do it on my 360 with a big screen and actually test it out?

This makes little sense to me. Have totally gimped features on your cell phone, and the same features on Vista as on the 360. Why use Vista for this stuff? Or if you have Vista and a good PC, I'm no longer at all interested in the 360 if it's doing the same thing.

Having your media accessible from your 360 to your cell makes way more sense. I like the idea of having the friends list on a cell, but to do what? So you see your friends list and that they are playing Halo 3. Can you do anything worth while on your cell? I think this Live Anywhere is going to die a painful death. I highly doubt developers are going to spend extra time creating extensions of their games for cell phones and Vista as well. But we'll see.

You have no idea what you are talking about...they showed that you can customize a skin for your car in foraz then transfer it to your cell phone and then take it to your friends house for instance. See the thing is at least you know Microsoft will support this and do must of the work so the devs just have to utilize.

Their are tons of Windows Mobile phones, but they are expensive... and worth it.

Live Anywhere will be amazing.

I have an XBOX 360, XBOX LIVE, Windows Mobile Phone (Motorola Q), and a Windows Vista RC2 and will be getting a copy of Vista Ultimate when it comes out on Jan. 19th!

So you're saying this is cool because you can edit the car on your 360, transfer it to a phone, and then put it on your friends 360? And this is better than transfering it with a memory card because they decided to use a cell phone instead?

I thought you could edit it on your cell, which is a lot more interesting that what you're talking about. Why not just have an attachment option in games where you can send it to your friend? Makes way more sense to me.

As for a cool idea for a cell phone, I'd love to see 360 games like a Splintercell kind of game where an agent reaches you through your cell phone. You could have it so it's just a program running, and not an actual call, but that would be totally rad hearing instructions about some plot through your cell.

The Live Anywhere idea for Forza 2 is that you can use your PC to create the textures for your car (using a tool like Photoshop, for example) and transfer it to your 360 to use in game.

The cell phone stuff is pretty gimmicky--it's mostly there so you can check your friends list or queue up downloads remotely.

That would really be awesome becasue I use Photoshop on a daily basis.

being able to add stuff to your game was a big selling point to the ps3 at e3, so far they haven't shown anything to do it with, with this the 360 has actaully shown something that will work. This can only be a good thing for those that want it.

You misunderstand what I was saying... there is a big difference between being able to use your cell as a credit card and being able to walk into a McDonalds, connect to the cell phone cashier, bring up the menu, queue up your order, and pay for it without ever talking to a person at the counter.

And I fail to see how using a mobile device to consolidate the number of devices or things you have to manage is dumb and stupid. Maybe the implementation in Croatia is dumb and stupid, but the implementation in Japan is absolute ****ing brilliance.

I think some of you guys need to watch that video again.

Live Anywhere is promising, more than some here wish

You get what you pay for, sure free online is great fellas, but that's all you get free online multiplayer, because I've seen more than just that I want more than just that because for me Live is affordable and worth it, everyone has an opinion but everyones opinions are not gospel, mine included, the PS3's free online is not the factor which has me wanting it.

Yeah, I can't wait to order fast food on my cell.....

Its one of those things that's there "just because it can." Not knocking it, but there's so much more that can be done with that technology to fawn over than ordering a Big Mac.

C'mon. I was using that as an example of where things are now. If you can order a Big Mac on your cell in Tokyo, think of what we'll be able to do just a few years from now.

Hell we can go to work, make friends, have relationships and even get married on our cell phones soon...and only then will be a complete society.

I think it is a cool idea, because while some people work (you know, have jobs) thier gamer score or rep will increase, much like the people who live in the basment of thier parents house...

Anyway... we'll have to wait and see!
