Thought i'd keep everyone updated on the figures being there's so much doomsday rubbish around... as you all know 6% isn't much and i'm sure alot of the older members from back around the PS2 days feel like they have been here before getting there console later...

I'm sure this Christmas will sell a lot of 360's though. Mostly because there's not really another option.

It belongs in both i've posted it here because i'm sick of people saying that 360 is going to roll away with it. I'm sure Sony are really worried by a 6% increase over the xbox when they've got there inhouse titles just around the corner... noottt... Everything but GOW is going to be bargain bin material in 6months then what are they going to have to offer? You eather love Halo or you don't... I thought the older member's might appreciate it because they've been here before coming late into the console race... we all know what the result was...

Yeah true the media bashing is rediculous but it will change over the next 6 months mark my words, expect alot of people eating there word's... the sales aren't good really because xbox didn't sell well previously in the end. PS2 was late to the market last time...

A flame war why have I? It's good logical information the only people starting a flame war are the one's who don't like the news. All i'm doing is educating the people on these forums with figures not some biased oppinion...

It's not where I am. Wii is selling more even the PS2 is sold out in some stores. :O I still see 360 sitting on store shelves, so if they sell any, its not even as big as the Wii.

the 360 is doing great so far and it's not gone stop selling just because the PS3 is out, this gen is gone be a close race IMO witch is good for everybody.

360 has 1 or 2 games actually worth playing which is a huge step above Xbox so this doesnt suprise me at all.

If you conssider that the 360 launched in usa fully, then 6 months later it launched in uk, and then later in japan, this is really really good.

the 360 must be selling more than the xbox worldwide too, the deals we have on them are INSANE!

and after Halo 3 who knows, what comes after MGS4? who knows. Its all how you view it. Im sure good games will come, maybe Ninja Gaiden 2!

The original Xbox had a great first year in USA, but it sucked everywhere else. The Xbox 360 is selling much better in Europe and we'll yet to see what Blue Dragon can do in Japan.

Also, the second year of the Xbox was pretty weak, without real killer apps whereas the second year of the Xbox 360 is one of the best years in terms of titles in history on gaming. (Needless to mention the games)

Huh in 6 months you got mass effect, blue dragon,elveon,lost planet, Lost Odyssey,bioshock. Now that just a few titles coming at you spring 2007 to challenge ps3 inhouse spring launch titles, there is far more. Shall i mention exclusives for winter 2007! Think not

This is not "fact" Just a opinion. As many 360 games this year have been rated very high to prove other wise.

No, it isn't. You can go into any store and there are literally stacks and stacks of 360 everywhere. There are stacks in the aisleways, there are bottom shelves stuffed with them and there are tons of them on the upper shelves. Who knows how many boxes of them are in the back storage areas. Everybody goes in asking for a Wii or a PS3, the clerks point them to the 360 and a lot of people just shrug and walk away. The PS2 is still outselling it by a wide margin and has outsold it every month except one since it launched. The 360 is not in competition with the PS3, it is in competition with the PS2 and not doing too well there.

First of all having the 360 in stock is a good thing, you can't sell them if you don't have them, just ask Sony about that.
And Every retail employee I've talked to says the 360 is selling very well, but you are right about the 360 not being in competition with the PS3 , since the 360 has sold 8million plus to PS3 400thousand i don't think Microsoft considers that competition.

BTW when i was at Best Buy yesterday they had about 10 PS3s in a stack on the floor when you walk in and i think I'm the only one that noticed them sitting there. So if your ready to purchase one you might want to hit the stores instead of Ebay.

+6% is a great start, but considering that no new next gen competition was out...I might have to take that back...

Considering the overall sales of the Xbox, +6% really isn't so great now that I think about it.

But still a plus is ALWAYS better than a minus.

I read somewhere that NPD doesn't include online sales.

I'll wait for announcements out of microsoft as to what was sold.

They only report the sales that are reported to them. As far as I can recall, Walmart and some online retailers don't report to them.

So if walmart doesn't report to them then they are basically useless...walmart is huge...and who else won't I mean come on...what use are they?

The data is useful to compare how different consoles are selling relative to others because the sample size is pretty big. It seems like the total sales numbers by themselves are not very accurate though.

Yeah I can see that, I was just thinking though I know my walmart sells alot of 360's so the sales numbers are not correct...

As well as it doesn't include non US sales.

The NPD numbers actually take into account best estimates of the ~20% that are not counted. They are bumped up accordingly.
It's the best thing we have in the US, and the industry uses it as its benchmark.

NPD made an error in there historical results. This was convered on Next-Gen biz today:

360 is at 3.8 Million at it's second november (compared to 3.9 million for XBox 1)
For 360 to gain ground over XBox1 it will have to sell more than 1,155,500 this December. (see vgcharts link).
