i see your point, but in the gaming world, Forza was the 1st simulated racer to display damage.
i don't care either way. with or without damage, the game is so sick!

yea but the reason it didnt launch with it is because they rather have the game out sooner than spend alot of time putting in damage...im sure ince they get car damage in GT5 we will get a patch

none of the GT games have ever had impact damage. I don't think it's a question of time, but I don't know what it is a question of.
Can't help but wonder if the car companies are paying them off. That way when one car damages quicker than another (like they do) the companies don't have to worry about the "that ford sucks because it smashed before my honda. . . I'm going to go buy a honda now."

I dunno, If it did it would feel wierd because no other GT has had damage and you usually never make contact anyway or if you spin out restart the race.

The reason why they didn't have it when the demo came out is because they are working on it. They didn't want to release it and have a bunch of newbies complaining about "I hit my car on the guardrail and my bumper still on the car" or "I crashed straight to the wall at 300mph and my engine is not in my brain's place".
I think the damage addition will be covering the ramming penalty in some sort of way. Like if you ram someone from behind, your car is going to get dammaged and consequentially slower until the point the car won't move.

gran turismo on the ps1 had damage well before forza came out on xbox.
They just didn't implement the visuals. It even had tire grip degradation..
I've been playing gt5p since it came out, and I don't really miss damage. I like my driving to be clean, and spotless lol

Yeah but it redefines the meaning of "Real Driving Simulator"
In real life, you got damage!

Because Polyphony (sp?) are perfectionists. They want the damage to be as good as their car models, so in other words, excellent. They've said before they could have put in car damage, but they want to it be exactly as it would be in real life. Which means crashing real cars. This stuff takes time, but I'm sure eventually they will have it.

Uh, what? Colin McRae 2 had damage and that's like 10 years old. Forza was far from the first.

Of course I want damage...which is why I was excited when they announced they were working on it for the final game. I've also heard something about them having it in Prologue as well.

have damage support on cars will make the visual quality shitty, either damaged or not. so, no. taking out damage is the correct thing they did.

You mean how every car company has to do crash tests. Those tests are open to the public. no video game company is going to spend millions to do the testing themselves. That would eat your profit. I think you guys are being a little short sighted about this and giving Polyphony too much leeway for why they don't have it in a game.

real time car damage is becoming a common thing. i don't think it's as hard as your making it out to be. I think the makes of GT just need to stop being bitches. . . and you need to stop giving them a reach around

you said the company would (in their true nature) crash test their own cars. I was making fun of your comment, which I thought was pretty clear.

bullshit, they are trying to copy real life. Forza's damage isnt even realistic, its just there to make people happy. crashing a car 20MPH can total a car

Yeah, I hope there is an option to turn it off, just in case I feel like just crashing about.

Ah man not another person saying, that one should be a sheep to a product just because it has one good detail. I'm a fan of the GTA series but I refused to buy GTA4 until I saw they updated the graphics to my expectations. Only a slave of a consumer allows such logic to guide their purchases.

Although don't forget this IS Polyphony. They would probably do it themselves anyway. Or at least spend a LONG time working out exact angles of collision and damage, how damage affects the car and shitloads of other variables. They want to make it as realistic as possible, and that isn't easy.
|
By that reasoning they should make their own version of 3ds Max, Photoshop, Illustrator, Windows, and what other software they are using from scratch. You know I'm a huge fan of GTA and Fable. I do not however buy each new game unless I am satisfied. It's a product from a company, treat it like that not like your best friend.
