The scores are an average of every review done for the game, so it's not just one reviewers opinion.

According to metacritic, there have been 44 games released for PS3 (not counting extra MotorStorm) and 200 for Xbox 360.

88 of those Xbox 360 games have scores above 75, which is 44% of games.
21 of those PS3 games have scores above 75, which is 48% of games.

So 44% of Xbox 360 games are good, opposed to 48% of games being good on PS3.

There ya go!

Actually, 360 games being about 76% more in amount, have a more stable percentage and only down by 4%. Which actually means that there's a better chance of a game having a good score on the 360 right now than PS3.

Of course, that has a lot to do with the fact that there are apparently 67 more games on 360 than PS3.

I'd rather have the 360's selection of games than PS3's at this moment.

P.S. Percentages are tricky. Let's say hypothetical percentages: PS2 having 75% chance to land a AAA game (with a 15,000 library) is FAR FAR FAR BETTER THAN 360 having a 95% chance of having a AAA title (with 88 games in total).

Ya exactly, I come up here (to the PS3 section) to get into a good, clean debate.

But anyways, if the PS3 and Xbox 360 had the same amount of games, the Xbox 360 would still win. Mostly because half of those games will be multi platformed... and throughout history it has been proved that all multi platformed games have been better for the Xbox branded consoles. And with more games going MP this generation, things aren't looking that good for Sony and their Playstation 3.

Lets again use Metacritic, now lets look at the most succsesful console ever made (in unit terms anyway) the PS2.

Metacritic list 1450 PS2 games in total, 508 of those are rated 75% or higher which means that the percentage of 'good games' on the PS2 is 35%, But hold on one minute that means (according to your thread title) that the 360 has better games than the PS2. Hell even the Gamecube at 38% has 'better games' than the PS2. But look at this Holy Christ the N64 has 64% which beats all of the consoles we have mentioned in this thread

I'd also like you to look how many of those 21 PS3 games were on or are soon to be on the xbox 360 because if I can get the same games on a cheaper system why would I fork out extra.

This argument has been going on for a long time. When PS3s top game releases - Metal Gear Solid 4 - we will see who's line-up is better.

Besides, while the PS3 has select few of system sellers, such as VF5 (coming to the 360), Resistance, Motorstorm, Calling All Cars, etc (with plenty coming this year), the Xbox 360 has almost 20 "must-buy" titles, with even more titles than the PS3 coming on the way.

Those statistics prove that most of the stuff that has been coming out for the 360 is complete crap and isn't worth buying, but if you look at the stuff coming out for PS3 when the PS3 has been out 18 months I bet it will have a much higher percentage of good games than the 360 had at this point.

And just because it has more games doesn't mean it should have a low percentage. Sure there is always going to be **** coming out, but the **** games shouldn't amount to 60%. With the PS3 that can be expected as most launch titles will be sucky 360 ports but where is the reason for the crap 360 games.

Just wait until Christmas when 60% of PS3 games will be awesome, and 360 owners are left with only 30% of the games worth buying.

Right now Ps3 sure as hell DOESNT have better games than the x360, the only games worth even owning is Motorstorm and Resistance as of now. By the time MGS4 and Killzone and all those fall titles come out, then the ps3 could have some advantage, but the game selection RIGHT NOW for ps3 compared to the x360 is just crap.

Meh, I disagree. Mass Effect, Bisoshock, and Halo 3 are going to pwn. Not to mention all the other good Multiplatformed releasing for both systems.

i disagree with the first part, the xbox does have more games and therefore it should have more good games. It doesn't matter if a thing has a score of 0 %, its just counted as a game that is not above 75%. if you have 8 games at 0% rating and 2 at 77%, then you have 20% (2 out of 10) that are above 75 percent and the low ratings of the other didn't bring down the score of the high ones, if you follow me.

i will agree though that the ps3s fall lineup does pwn the 360 one.

Looking at it a different way...if you take the 30 highest scoring games on 360 and PS3, the average scores favor the 360.

Go to http://www.gamerankings.com/itemrank...pleratings.asp and enter either the 360 or PS3 as the platform. Also change 'Limit Results' to 30.

Right now, there are a many more higher scoring games on the 360. Anyways, as long as your happy with what you have, it doesn't matter.

The PS3 has less games in it's collection of games, giving it a higher percentage of "good games". You wouldn't need to be a rocket scientist to figure that out.

The 360 has a much better selection at this point in time, while the ps3 has maybe 4 good games total right now

the xbox 360 would have a lower stastic mainly due to higher amount of games available so there will be in theory more lower scores to drag down the higher scores, if your working out with any average a random low score or a few will always not bring justice to the higher scores (or games in this case), i hate to stick up for the 360 but they have a few nice games.
having said that, ps3' holiday lineup pwns that of the 360

Tough to compare games that are out this early, but I will say only a small handful of games on each unit is worth full price.

Being a hardcore PS fan I must say that Gears is quite amazing. Got the 360 for that and I love it. Waiting to play Halo 3 and then will sell it off on eBay

Me myself, I like Japanese-style games way! more there for I would have to say ya PS3 games are better but its not about who has more an if they look better it is about what you like to play the most, Xbox fans will say there games are better an PS3 fans will say there games are better an it just goes round an round but it is about what YOU like to play.

You can prove almost anything with statistics, it's all in how you use the numbers.

XB360 are getting all kinds of wide platform games which really are just crap, while PS3 so far mostly have gotten 1st party games and some heavy hitters (Motorstorm, RFoM) when the number of total titles are that few and we have such titles the average is bound to go up.

Anyways I agree with you, I'm not a big fan of the games that the XB360 is getting, and I'm loving the exclusives for the PS3. So PS3 vs XB360 as of 2007 1-0

Yeah that is but we cannot prove this till the same amount of games have been released for both consoles and hten we can get an exact number, but yes the ps3 will have much better games than the 360 begening this summer
