Anyone else in the beta? I'm using it right now, not bad.... I definitely like the look a lot better. So far so good........

I like how you can customize the UI more than the previous build. I also enjoy how you can set it to reload whatever pages you had opened when you last closed it.

As in I could post, close the window and the topic would be there when I open it up again. ;D

It's an open beta too, not exclusive. Don't know if you're thinking it is but the "anyone else in the beta" makes it sound like you're implying it's a closed beta of some kind.

Oh, I don't notice anything different on the actual look of it because I'm using Windowsblinds. It must override it.

I'm using a mac...... so it automatically looked a bit different. Firefox 3 is definitely a lot cleaner looking, the outlay is better, the new tabs and buttons are cool. Its quite nice actually.

How ironic. I'm using "iSkin" with windows blinds.

I took it off though and it did look a lot sharper with the basic XP skin.

I'm not a fan of the Firefox 3 under Leopard. It looks too "Safari-ish". Might not be a bad thing to some.

Plus a lot of my addons aren't supported yet.

I never test beta's, especially involving an internet browser. Don't wan to risk anything. Is it still customisable, or more now?

How about you post a screenshot for those of us who don't feel like beta-testing something?

Mozilla wouldn't release anything if it was a security risk to someone's computer >>;. That's one of the things they pride firefox on.

Yeah come on, what harm can it do, anyway it can't be released any time soon, they went for v1 to v1.5. There only at v2.0.12, just bug fixes, no new features so far, maybe by the end of the year, or summer?

Whatever, I'll google it. I don't need a freaking beta test of a browser. I love my firefox and Ill definitely upgrade when update dialog comes up, but until then, i'll just keep track of progress without being involved in it. I like having a finished product, and as a linux user who's posting this laptop dualbooting linux, you have no business telling me anything about beta tests (every driver and just about every program is in constant beta test - the whole nature of the OS is a beta test).

Now, many of us who have no reason to upgrade yet would gladly appreciate a print-screen of what's to come, but to say that any beta (or even final product) is bugfree is just silly - i saw the reports of firefox 2 bugs throughout its development.

It seems to be faster for me. They've done something to it because when an image doesn't load it automatically shows up and text than the picture... it's kinda weird but like all the Icon for example, if they don't load fast enough instead of waiting to display the fully loaded page it shows everything than the images are loaded up.

May have been a bit of a placebo though, I don't know.

Here......... there are various other changes that I guess we could show too...... there are little differences too that would only come up on some screens for certain looking sites.

I do that in Firefox 2. Very useful feature.

Also, do you guys know about customizing Firefox by typing in "about:config" into your address bar, typing in "network" into the filter bar, and double clicking "network.http.pipelining" and "network.http.proxy.pipelining" and changing "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to 8?

Not sure if it works with Firefox 3 beta though.

For me it gave me twice the bandwidth, I went from 300kbs to 700kbs. Yes, I have slow internets.

Take a bandwidth test, then apply the settings in about:config, and then take another bandwidth test. Tell us if it improved!

Also, you should probably have another browser like IE or Opera so just in case it does crash you can reinstall.

Yeah the current Firefox has a lot of memory leaks.

Is the thing stable? If it's not stable than I simply wait. Especially if there are memory usage problems still.

Stable so far, I have had 1 issue. Thats when I quit the program and It asks me if I want to delete my history, cache, etc. It froze and I had to Force Quit... which on a Mac is easy and I can just restart the program.

I have it on the other comp. (You can use both) and it seems alirght. Ran into a few bugs but bare in mind it is a beta.

You can change that, tools->options->privacy and then click the box that says something about always clearing private data. I like it, I use it on Firefox 2, with 3 it just comes standard on.

I'll wait until 3 is more stable and ready for a public release.

Its not like 2 is causing me problems.

You're telling me, still I'm using a 5+ years-old computer with 256 RAM, yes I know that to the current standards that ******ertly low (I'll update soon) but I still remember the first time I installed FireFox on this very computer like a couple of years ago, and I still remember that at that time it was much better, stable and faster than IE, and I used to feel pity for any poor soul that was still using IE.

However as time when by, I ended up installing many cool extras, skins and complements and as you can probably guess while they were cool features they make the program slow and freeze and crash, so I ended up uninstalling most of that, I also got this little complement called FlashBlock that prevents any unwanted flash animation to suck even more memory.

So after all that trouble my FireFox is now working fast and stable again, but dear lord I hope they can improve all those memory leaks in 3.0
