Hi,

I am surfing at 1024x768 and the forum is taking up about 90% of the screen just the way it used to. It looks fine here.

You guys changed the forums on us!
i think i like this better, but i have to get used to more clicks

<edit>
BTW, I think that a more appropriate name for Server Side Scripting forum might be Server Side Scripting and Database Development.
</edit>

We are trying to make changes based upon the feedback we have been receiving from various levels of users. We want new members to understand that we cover all levels of Web development and not just professional developers who have been making money at this for years.

I personally hope that all members in general like our ideas and continue to give us feedback to improve your experience.

You guys certainly shocked me! For one moment I thought that I was on a different forum...

One thing: The forum seems a little empty now, with lots of space between everything (the text, tables etc.)

Elledan,

It's probably your settings. We typically design for the 800 x 600 monitors. But the forum is set to use % so I'm sure this makes for some fun white spaces.

As for the newest changes they come about because of a few reasons.

Splitting the coding lang:

This allows the visitors to more easily identify what kind of question they are asking and will hopefully allow people to receive faster responses. This should happen because people won't have to weed through all the PHP, ASP talk to find posts on Java etc.

Add the Beg. Corner:

We found that a lot of newer visitors were bashful to post because they felt that their questions would be overwhelmed by the large number of professional seeming questions. Sot his new forum will allow them to post in an environment that is more hospitable.

This has been my belief as long as I have visited WR/SP and posted in the forums...no matter what your level, expertise or age, we are all professionals and learning is an on going process to share with each other!

I'm so glad to see that this is just one of the many directions that this great website is headed...

I like the Beginner's Forum, but I preferred the old format in every other way other than that...I liked having gotten used to it I suppose.

Trash it... When I looked a second time, it looked normal to me.

It was probably just a result of the shock you gave me...

Is the server side scripting description supposed to ask me what language I am or is that a mistake?

The description for that forum has been fixed. Thanks for pointing it out.

It looks as if the beginner's corner is starting to pick up..lots of new faces starting to appear.

And I love the description in it.. CSS sound like a disease..lol.

Description is funny, but I think it has one or two too many jokes; not to be a downer (anyone who knows me knows I'm not), just seems mildly excessive.

I'd also recommend putting the "Web Design" forum at the top again; as you'll probably notice general all-purpose type forums (web design qualifies in this case) are usually the most posted on even if you stick them at the bottom. I always look for a General-type Forum when visiting a new community.

Nah, keep the jokes!

I didn't actually notice the difference as this look is so common. You're still using the default schemes from UBB. When are you going to make an original unique look fitting of SitePoint? <grin>
