Cosmetic Suggestions
The Advanced Internet Development board should be moved above client side scripting, becuase it is more of a general board, and all the actual coding boards should go below it...
And the copyright at the bottom should be on one line...not two...
Just some small suggestions.

The copyright notice as it is now looks just fine. No changes are necessary. Besides, how many times do you look at the copyright notice?
Moving the Advanced Internet Development forum above the Client Side Scripting forum is maybe an idea, but I guess if it would change, it would be very low on Wayne's priority list.
I don't think that it's really necessary, though.
[UPDATE] I just saw the Advanced Internet Development forum has been moved above the Client Side Scripting forum. Guess I was wrong about much spare time the mods have [/update]

I don't like the copyright lines now, make them in two rows

I actually like it better as one row now. Makes the footer look more clean with just a simple change.
If I hadn't liked it I wouldn't have made the change simple as that.
As far as spare time, it took me all of 20 seconds to move the forum and change the copyright notice. Actually that is probably an exaggeration on the high side of things.

I actually think the AID forum should have a different description. You say its for "Advanced Internet Development" but you don't define what that is. What is advanced to one may not be advanced to another. I would change it to "General Server Side Development" with a description along the lines of "Discuss the different options of databasing and scripting on the server side of your site"

Other people mentioned that in the "New Forums" thread and I asked for suggestions on the descriptions. Alas no one replied so it has stayed the same.

You asked that in the 'New Forums' thread, Wayne?
I must have missed it...

Quote:
Actually questions about PostgreSQL should be be in the JSP, ASP, CFM and More forum. This is kind of a catchall. While these topics are important, they didn't warrant a forum of their own. PERL got its own forum because regardless of current trends it is currently the most used programming script used on the server side. However that is changing and PHP seems to be dominating outside the corporate world with ASP, JSP and CFM dominating inside the corporate world. Did that break down cleanly into the three new forums or what?
Now about "Advanced Internet Development". This is supposed to be a catchall. For those "Which is better posts", "What database should I use?", "When looking for a BBS what should I get?". It is also for those questions that are more concept than reality. These are the questions that make you think about how to design a new site and set up that database and other things like that. This is also where you can discuss ideas like SSI and other enhancements.
The forums are grouped around discussion topics that I hope make it easier to understand how things work, even for a newcomer.
So what is needed instead of more forums is maybe better descriptions. At this time we are limited to 250 characters. If anyone is willing to give it a try go ahead.

Okay, I missed it thus... thanks, Wayne
PS: can we still give suggestions for a new description?

Yes you can.

These small changes look good. One thing though: after the copyright statement there is the number 11. I don't actually think that's supposed to be there, is it? Just wanted to point that out.

Actually I am testing something out and placed it there for a limited time.
If you notice it changes depending on which forum you are in.

I just noticed that myself upon reading this thread - I do the same thing myself sometimes to debug scripts - print out a variable to see if I can pinpoint where a problem lies.
That said, I like the forum move, and will be fine with whatever Title it's given - no biggie.

I am glad you guys liked my suggestion...I wasn't sure if it was stupid or not, since it was so small...
Anywho, I think that the description should not say anything about any specific launguages...like it shouldn't say, "If you are ready to move boyond HTML or CSS" like it does now. It should just be a general coding forum, for things that dont fit in any other coding forum...like advanced concepts. So maybe a decription like "...for advanced internet development concepts..." or I dunno. But I dont think it should say HTML or CSS in the description, cause that makes it sound like a beginner forum.
A PERFECT example of a topic in their, would be how someone asked how mp3.com executes a server side script without moving the browser. It was discussed and solved using HTML protocalls...no one knew before hand how to do that, so it didn't have a specific forum, but it turned out to be a awesome use of a unfimilar and old protocall.
SO, in concludion, I think it should be something like "Advanced Internet Development Concepts, BLA, BLa..."...
Okay, how many times have I repeated myself in this post? okay, i should stop talking.
