Hello to all,

I've recently come up with an idea for a website I'd like to develop (big deal - who hasn't? ) The issue I'm facing is whether or not to code the back-end myself or use a CMS (once again - big deal). Here's what I'm looking to incorporate into the site...

- member signup/login system
- basic member control panel w/profile options
- the ability for a registered user to submit data, then have it need to be verified by an admin before being posted
- the ability to have user posted information rated and commented on
- the ability to categorize and sort all of the user submitted data

...I guess the real question at hand here is - would it take longer to code it myself or take the time to learn a CMS inside out? (the question may sound stupid - but pretend that I'm none the wiser in this situation) I'm all for coding it myself (though I am still pretty new to PHP/MySQL) - I simply am not familiar with CMS and need some help.

If my criteria or question is too vague please let me know and maybe I can clarify.
