Auction site software

I'm interested in setting up an auction site.

Does anyone know anything about premade auction scripts? Which ones are good?

I'm considering this one:

http://www.phpprobid.com/

Any opinions?

Thanks.

Auction site software

Yep, have used the software in a client's project in the past. Very well developed application. Would strongly advise it.

Heres some rather tastey looking scripts you might want to check out

PHPAuction
http://www.phpauction.net/
Demo: (XL Version) http://www.phpauction.net/phpauction-xl-3.0/

AJ Auction
http://www.ajsquare.com/index.php
Demo:http://www.ajsquare.com/products/ajauction/demo/
This one is a Ebay clone (very much like ebay)

Also some more on this site http://hotscripts.com/PHP/Scripts_an...ons/index.html aswell as some free ones, but the free ones dont seem as good.

I've been looking at xcent.com. They're a little pricier, but they seem to have decent stuff.

I've used phpprobid for over 1.5 years now to run my auction sites. My newest niche site is for script, software and related services... i.e. hire a geek etc. The dust hasn't settled yet and I will be doing many mods to the site, but if you wanted to see one in action you can click on the link in my sig.

Have fun!

Hi Rick,

I was interested in seeing how you accomplished that with pro bids. Pro bids limits you to only "items" for sale (products like ebay). I clicked your hire a geek category and it seems as the auction is asking me (the provider) to buy it now? The situation/feel just doesn't feel right.

Maybe I don't know your full operation, but I think to accomplish what you want you may need to look at "reverse auctions" where "buyers" post their services and "providers" bid with their best proposal for the job.

In the end, the buyer *guy who posts* awards a provider (or more than 1 provider to do the job).

Just a thought none the less. I think you might be able to do something like have your main site run the product auctions, and a subdomain using something like ILance to handle your procurement side of house

Regards,
Peter
