dont know what to call this one
hey. this is probably impossible, but i was browsing a thread earlier, and wanted to PM someone. so clicked PM, wrote the message, and got returned to my PM list.
My point is that I wanted to go back to the thread I was reading, not my PM list. Would it be possible to add an option on where you get redirected to after having sent the PM?

I'm not positive, but I think doing that would be really hard, if possible at all. It would be different each time, so it would have to be rather complicated. Can't you just open a new window for the PM? That's what I do.

i was having a think about it, and all you would need to do is grab the link of the current page, then pass it to the PM page and then perhaps add a checkbox saying "return to previous position?".
But you're right it is easier to open in a new window. Maybe in which case the PM button on top of the post window, could auto open in a new window (like the profile button does)...

It's not hard (in ASP anyway) to redirect a person to the page they just came from, I'vr got a log in page that does it.
It would just be a matter of making a prompt asking if they want to go to their PM box, or where they came from and then move them
But thats only mu 2 cents

Ive just noticed that a cutdown version of this feature is in use for the buddy list thing. You hit buddy, it goes to a page, adds them, then directs you back to where you were. Surely that could be modified for this situtation?

I've been wondering about this, as the rest of the site works on the redirect-back principle...

a pop-up window, although annoying in most case, would be an excellent method for a pm. Click PM, up pops a text box, click send, the window closes. Shouldn't be too hard.
