With regards to your ZDLWAN that was not working. You can try installing it again and testing that it can make a connection. Try the following:
(1) Remove the ZDLWAN hardware.
(2) Uninstall the ZDLWAN driver via the Device Manager.
(3) Install the ZDLWAN driver. Do NOT connect the hardware before you install the driver.
(5) Connect the ZDLWAN hardware.
Now, if there is still no connection to your wireless router, is it able to connect to someone else's wireless router? For example, the local "Starbucks" coffee house typically has a wireless access point. While it is a for-pay system, you will still get a login webpage. This will at least prove to yourself that the laptop with ZDLWAN is able to connect to something.
