I currenty own a AVR-3802 and I'm aware that a newer model will be out soon which will feature major changes to it such as:

newer Super Sharc Processor, Burr Brown 24/192 DAC?s in Dual configuration for each channel, Pure Direct Mode (uses 4 DAC?s per channel for 2 channel music), AL24 processing, Video Conversion (converts S-Video to Component etc etc). Master Audio Delay (cures Lip Sync problems), DTS 96/24.

I can guess that these new upgrades will no doubt make the 3803 sound better than the 3802 (especially in stereo), but the question is how much better will it sound?

With the changes incorporated into the new 3803, will it sound as good as the AVC-A11SR?

For those who have heard both the 3802 or the A11SR, can you tell is it worth upgrading from the 3802 to the A11SR - does the A11SR sound alot better in stereo AND in dvd movies?

Lastly, is the A11SR's performance (stereo & movie) far from the mighty A1SR?

PS I've been looking at the specs for the A11SR and it doesn't seem to have the Burr Brown 24/192 DAC, which the A1SR and the soon 3803 will have. Can someone please clarify this?

The A11SR doesn?t have 24/192 DACS. The DAC?s in the 3803 aren?t the same as those in the A1SR either, Burr Brown 24/192 but different models (if my memory serves me right!).

The 3803 (on paper) should give the A11SR a run for its money, possibly outperform it but until I?ve heard one I can?t say much more.

IMO the A11SR outperforms the 3802 both musically & for movies but still can?t get near the performance of an A1SR or upgraded A1SE.

Others may think differently though.
