Optimize DVD Burning Tips

Hello all

Here the tips for getting optimize performance:

  1. Update the Firmware on your burner (optional)
  2. Clean the outside of your DVD Burner to reduce the risk of dusk getting into the lens when you open it.
  3. Burn using Disc-at-once for maximum performance. Burning using track-at-once has a greater chance of creating an error on the burnt disc.
  4. To optimize burning, let the burning program be the only program running. Try not to run background programs or screen savers. If you get buffer underruns, try slower burning speeds.
  5. Defragment your hard disks before burning.
  6. Burning at slower speeds usually generates higher quality DVDs.
  7. Always finalize your disks, never leave the sessions open.
  8. Make sure your DVD player can play the formats that your DVD burns.
  9. Do not just buy media just because its cheap, they may not last as long as buying high quality discs.
  10. Once you find the right media that works for your burner and dvd players, stick with it and buy large quantities of them because DVD manufacturers always change their quality or change their Media ID.

What ? I don't think that writing after Multi-session makes the past data invisible or unreadable, because I have burned many DVD's using multi-session and they worked like charm for me, I think it only happens when you try the "Overburn" feature which makes some adjustments in the Lead-In and Out section, which makes the newly burnt media to work, not the old data. Correct me if I am wrong...

^^it doesnt actually OVERWRITE data.. i just renders it unreadable. lets say u have 100 mbs left and u make a multisession cd then at the time of next burning session it will allow u to burn only upto 100 mbs but while reading this disk again, the previously burned data may get 'invisible' which is just a simpler way to say tht it renders it unreadable... if u r lucky, u may able to read from both sessions....
