PS3 Video Capturing

Hey Guys,

I wish to record game play from my PS3 to my laptop. I know that I will need some sort of capture device (Dazzle?), but what want to know, is how can I capture video while playing the game on my TV?

My TV is analog, I have a lead from the PS3 going to the TV, it has 3 connectors (left and right audio, and video) which is inserted into the side of my TV.

How can I split the signal so that it will continue to display on the TV, but also at the same time record what I am doing?

Thanks

PS3 Video Capturing

Hi all
The method above works well as I have done it with good results
However I did experience some banding... soooo...

My question is this: -

I am now running an S-vhs lead to my capture device which is an ATI Radeon HD2900 gfx card. The ATI has a set of leads that you push into the card and has 2 video in's (1xsvhs & 1xcomp) and 2 video out's (1xsvhs & 1xcomp).
I have set the system up as follows : -
PS3 -> S-vhs lead to S-vhs video in on ATI
Audio to sound card
ATI s-vhs out to tv
audio out to stereo/tv - no matter.
I can get the system to record the video and sound using Ulead Video Studio 11 which is great, but I need to be able to play whilst I record (Call of duty 4 shotguns only on Shipment private match ) but cannot get the svhs out to the tv to work...
Does anyone know how set up either Ulead VS11 or ATI catalyst control panel, or both to enable me to get the VSHS out working?
I would prefer to use SVHS for the quality of it but if need be I could go back to composite
Any ideas?
Many thanks...

?

Will I notice any loss of quality when it is split?

Thanks
that was the sort of item I meant , so yes try it

I cannot tell you what will happen when you use it , only someone who has tried it would know , and I dont have games consoles and so have never tried it myself

you asked how it could be done , and that was my best answer based on the facts given , and yes it may degrade the signal , in which case you may need a powered phono distribution amp where you provide one input and it distribute more than one amplified output , not sure what they are called but have seen them in magazines etc

the simplest solution ( if it works ) is buy 3 Y-splitters of the phono type , and split the 3 composite channels from 1 to 2 , then have one 3 - phono cable feeding the tv and another 3 - phono cable feeding the dazzle

should find them in the usual electronics shops or on fleabay like this one Item number: 230226208428

If your TV supports signal routing, (mine does) it would be possible to connect the PS3 RCA plugs to the TV as normal, and in the 3890 TV setup/menus select that input as the source to output to the VCR scart. Connect an appropriate lead between the TVs VCR scart and the recording device.
