How to turn splash screens back on

When my system boots up there are no splash screens displayed (no Dell or Windows splash screens). The first thing I see is the Welcome screen. Does anyone know how to get the splash screens to reappear?

The problem is that I want to get into the BIOS but the BIOS screen will not display. I can hit F2 as the machine boots and that stops the boot into Windows, but there is no display on the screen -- just blank. When I hit ESC a few times the boot continues into the windows welcome screen. So I think I am getting into the BIOS but it is just not displaying on the screen.

I have tried a number of different monitors, there just doesn't seem to be any video output until the Windows welcome screen

No clue what to do about this. Any help appreciated.

Dimension 2400
Windows XP Sp2
PS2 keyboard and mouse
standard CRT display attached to integrated video

LOL! I just about asked you:
"Are you runningintegrated video or a seperate video card. If you are running a seperate video card, it is possible that the onboard video is outputing the information until Windows starts up."
But you say you are running CRT hooked up tointegrated video. Hmm...
Have you changed anything in the system configuration that may have caused this to happen?
Very weird... I would say that your monitor is defective at the lower resolutions while booting up, but you say that you have tried different monitors too.
Maybe there is something wrong with your integrated video.

How to turn splash screens back on

yeah

I've come to the conclusion that the video process that displays the start up/bios/splash screens is broken. I guess its a motherboard issue

Which is a pain since if you can't get into the BIOS, then you can't do much to change the machine.

But it still runs the way it is, so that's something
