I just got Sony Bravia D
Easy. Have an HDMI cable (component works too, but usually TVs won't accept 1080p over Component), make sure to get a cheap one, unless you are planning on getting 25 feet or more of length.
Now that you have your HDMI cable, plug your PS3 into your TV with the cables that came with your PS3 (the red, white and yellow ones), at the same time plug in your PS3 with the HDMI cable.
Now that it is hooked up with both cables, turn your TV and PS3 on, find the TV's input with the PS3 hooked up to it (so you see the PS3 menu), go into Settings/Display Settings. Once there choose HDMI and set it to AUTO, the TV will go blank, and you need to switch the TV's input to the HDMI input with the PS3, so now you will see the PS3 on your TV, but in HD now. Hit "OK" and thats it.
Leave your PS3 to output all resolutions up to AND including 1080p. And thats all you need.
Superwhite = OFF
RGB = Limited
And you're good. Done and done.
For a further lesson in the PS3 and your new HDTV, check out the Blu-ray section. You can read about all things HD/PS3/HDTV.
