Koctave problems Dapper Drake CLOSED Question

I have just installed koctave from the dapper repositories but it is giving me some problems. When I start koctave from the menu it starts up with the splash and then opens up, but where the command window should be is just a smooth gray expanse, and when I click anywhere in this area koctave crashes instantly. I checked the path to octave and that is correct. when I start koctave from the terminal I get the following output:
