Touchpad Problem

Hi All
I have some problems with my touchpad, i just hate the "taping" on it, so i want to disable it, i have searched and see some info, that i should go to xorg.conf and add an option to the synaptics module that says MaxTapTime 0, but that seems to do nothing on it, i also read something about a program called tpconfig, i do a tpconfig -i and the nex error shows
"fatal:

No Synaptics or ALPS touchp 1f40 ad device found"

next thing i did was apt-get install ksynaptics, this adds the option of touchpad to my kcontrol, in there, it is sopposed that i can manage my touchpad, but still again nothing happens..

So, more info on my system, i have a Toshiba Satellite A20 series, latest version of kubuntu with all the dist-upgrades on it.

Please HELP
