Gnome Startup Problems
Hi, I've just recently switched to Ubuntu (after trying a few other Linux distros) and I've really begun to enjoy using it. So far, I've had very few problems and it's been working rather well. However, I installed XFCE this afternoon and, since then, GNOME has been very slow to start and hangs on Window Manager on the splash screen. It eventually loads but takes about a minute just to fully log in. I uninstalled XFCE and it went back to normal, then on installing KDE the problem came back. I searched the forums and nothing seems to be anything like this error. If anyone knows a way to fix this, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Other than that, Ubuntu's been a very joyful experience, especially since I got my ATI card working almost straight away, unlike Mandrake and Debian, both of which wouldn't enable DRI at all. Keep up the good work!
