Problems running UT2004

Whenever I try to run UT2004 from the .sh file (or most other games) they somehow end up windowed and flickering.

How could I fix this?

Turn off compiz.
Code:
metacity --replace


Or install Fusion-icon.
read somewhere that in advanced Desktop Effects there's an option to fix this but I havn't been able to find it.
