i transfer things to my phone frequently, but if ubuntu cannot do that i have no choice left but to nuke it and install windows again.. which i really don't want to do.

Why not just go back to dapper if your phone used to work with it?

i thought of doing that.. but then edgy has a lot of updated stuff which makes a small difference.. specially since i am on dialup

solved!!

i just replaced the gnome-obex-send command to include the address of my phone:

gnome-obex-send --dest=00:18:8D:6C:92:91

and it detected it!.. i'm so glad i'm still sticking with ubuntu
