My mouse was working fine and then I played with the mouse settings in gnome preferences->mouse. Ever since my mouse has been very slow and changing any of the settings makes no difference.

I have changed the xorg.conf file and on the login screen the mouse is fast and at the rate I like. However once gnome has loaded the mouse goes very slow again.

Any ideas how to fix this?
