Problem with making XMMS default application

Hi Everybody,

I have this issue with setting default applications. I have XMMS and went to "Removable Drives and Media" and on the "Multimedia" tab, I have this entry in Audio CD:

xmms -d %d

The only change to this is the name of the application. When I remove Sound-Juicer, Audio discs will start in XMMS if you are loading into the CDROM but if you left click on the desktop icon or right click on the icon and select "open", I recieve this message:

Couldn't display "cdda:///dev/hdc".

this also states it had a problem opening application. At this point I have removed sound juicer but if I reinstall it this message is no longer shown. At this point I can't even browse this folder and will recieve the same warning.

TY for any help in this matter.

AMB,

Problem with making XMMS default application

Just an update.

In terminal the command "xmms" will bring up the application but still has the same issue. Once I load a CD, it will autorun xmms but once I exit the application and then right click on the CD Icon and select Open, I get the same error as above. I don't quite understand why this is happening. I figure the application I specified as the default would prevail but the error can be resolved by installing sound-juicer. Once installed sound-juicer is auto executed even though xmms is specified as the default.

Any thoughts or direction would be much appreciated

Problem with making XMMS default application

I feel very frustrated at this point so in the spirit of simplicity. I removed xmms and returned to the original settings and things work now. I now feel discouraged to my chances to get questions answered in this forum. TY to all those that have helped me (you know who you are.) I will remain dedicated to Ubuntu, I will have to find better ways of learning it and supporting it.

Problem with making XMMS default application

I see this is an old thread but I didn't manage to find good answers elsewhere. I have the exact same problem, I prefer other applications over Sound Juicer, but the system won't let go even if it's uninstalled.

I'd like to have an option like "browse CD" appear when right-clicking and my application of choice start when left-clicking.

I hope that by refreshing the thread an answer might pop up...
