I got my brand new 5.1 speakers working, however i run into some problems actually using them.
the main problem being, my system mixes up the channels, ie it puts center in the rear left speaker etc.


speaker-test -c6
gives mixed up channels.

HOWEVER when trying

speaker-test -Dplug:surround51 -c6

it works fine.
then i try vlc and the channels are mixed up again.

aynone hae a clue of how to fix this? i have an onboard ac97 soundcard with a nforce4 motherboard.
the idea would be to tell ubuntu how to remapp the sound channels, but i have no idea how.
