I'd like either the 5GB or the 10GB.

I don't want the box or whatever, its just the actual player - I want to actually use it!

The original Apple iPod (Scroll Wheel) broke new ground in the portable MP3 player market by combining a small hard drive, a unique "Scroll Wheel" controller for easy one handed operation, a simple, easy-to-use operating system designed for mobile devices (based on Pixo OS 2.1), and slick Mac software -- iTunes (based on SoundJam) -- that made it easy to manage one's music collection between the Mac and the iPod.

The original iPod features a 5 GB hard drive (10 GB option available after March 21, 2002) capable of holding 1000 songs in 160-Kbps MP3 format (or 2000 on the 10 GB drive), a high output amplifier (60-mW), a FireWire port, and a standard 3.5-mm headphone jack in an ultrasleek "iBook white" and stainless steel case with a 2-inch white backlit LCD display. Battery life is an estimated 10 hours.

I have one that I have been debating on selling to get a video ipod.

It's originally a 10gb model, I replaced the original battery a while back I took the opportunity to replace the 10gb HD with a 20gb HD I had from a non functional 4th gen ipod.

It's in great shape and the 2 most important parts that are the most susceptible to breaking ( The headphone jack, and Firwire port) are in perfect condition.
It has some scratches from normal use but not anymore than that.

If you interested and would like me to take some pics I can.

I'd like to see some pix; if Gav doesn't take it maybe I will.

Love those FireWire-based iPods with the turning wheel!

Pics for Gav, you, and anyone else who may be interested in what I have.

I also added the 2 other ipods I would like to either sell or trade for a for a 5th gen ipod as well.

Side by side with my 40gb 3rd gen.

In a row showing the thickness compared to the 40gb 3rd gen and my 15gb 3rd gen.

The 3rd gens work perfectly but I think they could both use new batteries as they don't get the length of playtime they used to.

Do you have a price in mind?

I've got a 10gb 1G iPod with this scroll-wheel (the mechanical version of the touch wheel) that works well and is in good shape. It's got the box, which is a cool Jimmy Hendrix deal, and the inserts. I can get some pictures tonight when I get home if anyone is interested. Not sure what these are worth, so feel free to make an offer.

I think ?30-40 for an unboxed 10GB would be fair, don't you?

I'd pay $50 for a boxed iPod w/included cables/accessories (disc, etc).
Or around $30-$40 for an unboxed one dependind upon condition, what's included, etc.

Let's say $30 for a bare, smaller sized iPod w/nothing extra, as long as it's working, even if the battery is weak.

I was thing in the 50$ range for my 1st gen. it does have an upgraded 20gb hd and the battery is still pretty fresh.
