Is there no quick way of doing this? I have 30 clan members who i would like to have their own colour thats the same for the group clan members? Do i have to do the above to each one of them? Gollem99

Any idea what I am doing wrong?
Users will only take on the colour of the group which is set as their default group you can change their default group in the user management section

Yes you will need to do it on a per user basis, of course if you have set up the permissions to allow it they can set their own default groups via the user control panel

Setting Groups Colour
Go to your ACP -> Users and Groups -> look up group -> then use the colour swatch to pick a colour.
