Stopping Windows from Stealing Focus

I don't know whether this is a "feature" of IE6, WinXP, or the pop-up blocking software, but I have a problem with windows, typically IE, stealing the focus when they have completed rendering a page. Outlook also will do this on occasion. I have searched download.com for a program, but couldn't find any. Does anyone know of a program, registry hack, or option to stop IE from displaying a window which has finished loading?

First, you could try to change it using tweakUI, heard results are patchy though. Available from here

If that doesn't work

** usual warning about how editing the registry could mess up your system good and proper (but i'm sure you know what your'e doing.) **

have a look here

just checked and my reg settings are the same as those in the example in the article.
i'm using win2k which of course doesn't steal focus (well behaved windows shock)

hope this helps and let us know how it goes.

After retesting the Outlook focus problem, it was only happening while I was in my Hotmail inbox, waiting for a message to d/l. This just uses IE's engine, so it is the same problem.

Tried the regedit. My LockTimeout was set at 0, so I changed it to the old default of 200000. It didn't make an immediate change, but maybe it requires a restart.

Off to try TweakXP.
