[SetFSB Auto Tool] Automatic CPU overclocking utility

What is SetFSB?

SetFSB is a program that makes possible control the PLL(Clock Generator) on your board, so you can control the FSB and PCI/PCI-E buses while in Windows. That way you can overclock your CPU and system memory too.

What is SetFSB Automatic Tool?

I decided to make this tool, because when you shutdown(to power off/standby) all the settings that you have made within SetFSB are lost. Then you need to re-enter and re-setting the FSB again.

So with this tool you don?t need to do anything, it will set a predefined overclock automatically on systems boot.

Because the M570RU?s clock generator resets on shutdown(standby) but keeps its settings when you restart(the power is not cut), this tool will automatically detect that situation an will not rise the FSB again.

How to in 3 steps:

1________________________________________________________________

Download SetFSB from here: http://audigyfiles.com.sapo.pt/AutoT...lInstaller.rar

Extract and run the AutoToolInstaller.exe. Accept and click the install button. (It will create a folder with the SetFSB files on C:\)

2________________________________________________________________

Then download(below) the SetFSB Auto Tool Configuration and Auto Tool OC ON. Place the both .exes anywere you like, desktop, programs, etc.

If you need to reset your CPU to the stock frequency, just download(below) the SetFSB Auto Tool OC OFF. Place it anywere you like, desktop, programs, etc.

3________________________________________________________________

Now, run the Auto Tool Configuration Utility. It will ask for the stock CPU frequency. Enter it on Mhz units. Then click [OK].

Next it will ask for the Max multiplier of your CPU. Enter it. Then click [OK].

Finally it will ask for the desired overclocking frequency. Enter it on Mhz units. Then click [OK].

Example: For one Intel Core 2 Duo T7700

Stock CPU Frequency: 2400
Max Multiplier: 12
Overclocked CPU frequency: 2900

If you have problems knowing about any of these fields, try the Intel Processor Spec Finder Database.

If you still have doubts, just ask here that I will gladly help you.

Now, if you want to apply the overclock automatically to the CPU when your system boots up, just follow these 3 steps:

1________________________________________________________________

Click Start -> All Programs -> Startup. Right click over "Startup", chose open/explore.

2________________________________________________________________

Now that we have the Startup folder open, copy the SetFSBAutoToolOCON.exe to the Startup folder.

3________________________________________________________________

Finally, check the Startup folder via Start Menu to confirm.

_________________________________________________________________

Make sure that you have selected the correct and funcional PLL/Clock Generator for your machine. (Clevos M570RU/71RU/72RU/73RU use the ICS9LPR363DGLF PLL).

SetFSB Auto Tool OC ON - http://audigyfiles.com.sapo.pt/AutoT...toToolOCON.rar

Every time your computers starts or you run this tool manually, the SetFSB Auto Tool will automatically apply the predefined overclock to your CPU. Remember to test first in small Mhz steps.

One tray baloon will automatically pop up, warning you about the overclocking frequency that was applied to your CPU:

If in the future your don?t want the overclock automatically applied on system boot, just delete the .exe from the Startup folder. If you want to set another overclock frequency, just run the Auto Tool Configuration utility.

SetFSB Auto Tool OC OFF - http://audigyfiles.com.sapo.pt/AutoT...oToolOCOFF.rar

This tool will reset your CPU to stock speeds when overclocked. Just copy it to your desktop or any other place and double-click on it.

Unfortunately the PLL of the D901C has some kind of lock on the SMBus... leading to an impossibility of changing the FSB via softmod(PLL Registers).

Remeber, the PLL is not CPU dependent... it is located on your motherboard, so it?s model/platform dependent.

Try all the PLLs listed on SetFSB, thats the easiest way.

First things first - you need to find YOUR PLL/clock generator among SetFSB's list in order to actually manipulate it. There are only two ways to find out your PLL:

1. Open up your laptop, find it on the motherboard and then look at what it say it is.

2. Instead you can just try with every PLL generator in SetFSB, until you get the correct one. The correct one will show your CPU frequency as identical to the one in CPU-Z. Find it via trial and error.

d97c Cool looking tool.

Will this tool work on a Z96JS with a T7200 (Intel i945PM Revision 03)?

What is a good safety limit for overclocking? (i.e. How far do you try to push the speed? 5%? 10%? or more?

Thanks.

There is no risk trying the SetFSB PLLs list...

About the difference that overclocking makes, is the same difference when you chose to buy an T5750(2Ghz) over an T5550(1.83Ghz).

BTW, your T5750 has a stock CPU frequency of 2000 and a max multiplier of 12.

Hi emike,

I realized that this new version was quite different from the old one, and at some time if I used the old thread, could be confusing on about how we can use the tool if we read the comments about the older tool.

Now there is a simple GUI with user configurable fields, wich is different from the fixed configuration of the older tool.

thnx alot naticus!!! 1 more question, 10x multiplier? i have mines at 10.5x would it be a problem or should i leave it at that?

n00dles

[SetFSB Auto Tool] Automatic CPU overclocking utility

It should be 10.5, I tested with 10, and it doesn't clock to the wanted frequency. Also, don't go past 2500Mhz, the max you can get to is about 2514Mhz.

Your PLL ID ICS9LPR363DGLF

I have mine OC'd by 300mxz, so i would say go from 2100 to 2400-2450 stable. Your multiplier should be 10x.

[SetFSB Auto Tool] Automatic CPU overclocking utility

I have a M570RU, using a C2D T8100. I'm wondering what my stock frequency and multiplier are. I looked it up on the website, but there are a few models of T8100, some have a multiplier of 10, some with 10.5. I'm guessing my stock frequency is 2100?

Also, what would be a good frequency for me to clock to (ie. the most performance without blowing up my computer)?

Thanks Aud, really appreciate everything you've done with this =).

I manage to get my girlfriends asus with a T9300 up to 3.0GHz. I passed the wprime tests. It also help the fact that the ram was pc-800. Normally the ram will run at 667.When the FSB is increased so that the proc speed is 3.0 Ghz, the rm will ran at 800 because the ram multiplier is locked.

have you checked which clock generator your motherboard uses?

theriko

[SetFSB Auto Tool] Automatic CPU overclocking utility

Yes of course. When I turn off AutoToolOC ON (delete it from Autostart), SetFSB shows correct FSB, but when I turn on AutoToolOC ON (place it in Autostart), reboot OS, then AutoTool tells me in tray correct CPU speed, but trying to get FSB in SetFSB i get this weird 406MHz (althought set FSB is 440 or even higher). Weird isn't it?

Firstly, what laptop do you have?

theriko

[SetFSB Auto Tool] Automatic CPU overclocking utility

Hi Theriko. I do not use laptop, I have PC with Intel Q9450 on Asus Rampage Formula X48 Chipset. So far I corrected mistaken install of AutoTool and installed it on C:\ as default (previously I put it on different partition) and now AutoToolOC ON does start but SetFSB is reading FSB incorrectly (in BIOS set is 440, program is giving me 406MHz)... Previously FSB was shown OK.

Hi Orius,

First check every PLL on SetFSB list... you just need to find one that works on your system. It will show your CPU frequency and FSB correctly.

On your system, your FSB is 166(QP-QuadPumped 667), and your T7200 works at 2000 with an max multi of 12.

2200 should be a good value for an initial overclocking. Check your temperatures and stability on high load situations, such as games and benchmarks. 2400 should be reachable.

You are right, your T8100 has a max multi of 10.5 and a stock freq of 2100.

About the overclocking limit, 2300 should be a good value for an initial overclocking. Check your temperatures and stability on high load situations, such as games and benchmarks. 2500 should be reachable, or even 2600 due to the shrinked core(less heat)

Thanks for your support!

Hi n00dles,

Yes, its normal...

The PLL Registers are volatile, wich means that if you shutdown to standby or even restart in some systems, the overclocked settings applied to the PLL will be erased.

This tool makes the process of re-apply the desired overclocking easier, applying it automatically when you boot up.

Yes, if you read the OP, Aud tells you to put OCON.exe into your Startup folder, which means your computer will automatically clock to the desired speed during each startup.

Thats means that the PLL that you have selected it's not the correct one, or your system has some kind of SMBus lock, making impossible to program the PLL's registers.

The PLL used on the M860TU is the ICS9LPR395.

Unfortunately it's still not supported by SetFSB.

[SetFSB Auto Tool] Automatic CPU overclocking utility

Anyone able to find the pll for clevo M860tu? Because i tried them all , one by one, and the only one that came up with some results ,is the "RTM876-660" , which must be not correct because the results are wrong.

emike09, is wright... if you can provide some error code, problem, I/we can gradly help you...

Just remember to first try every Clock Generator on SetFSB's list. If any of those listed work(the correct FSB is showed and can be altered and applied), then just follow my guide on the first post.

Any doubt just ask!
