RPG Thread

Whether it be on my PSP, GBA SP, or PC, RPG's are always fun.
Just recently, I managed to get my friends GBA SP which was rotting away in a dark cabinet and guess what, I started playing Pokemon. Not only did I find three cartridges of it (red version, blue version and the leaf green version) but i'm totally engrossed.

I've got a host of RPG's mostly japanese for my PSP including Tales of Eternia, Final Fantasy II Anniversary Edition, Star Ocean: First Departure, Ys 6 The Ark Of Napishtim, Brave Story, Monster Hunter Freedom, and a few more.

I'm going to play The Witcher [PC] soon which I've heard only good good gory adult good things about so far so I can hardly wait.

Which RPG's do you guys play? Which one's would you suggest? Discuss any of em here it'll be cool to trade some names, see which is good and vice versa.

I have this weird fascination with wanting to play RPGs, but never getting around to actually finishing them. I think I've only beaten FFX and KOTOR. I have FF7 and 8 sitting on a shelf, but lack the desire to actually beat them. Same with Deus Ex.

But I bought Chrono Trigger for the DS, maybe that'll reverse the trend.

Vampire: the Masquerade on the PC (you can get it over Steam) was a really cool game. Never got too far into it, but it was definitely a blast to play.

Tales of Destiny 1 & 2

2 of the best RPG's ever made, and so overlooked. I would pay 50 bucks for em both again.

They're for the ps1 though, so you may have to get a ROM or get em from ebay

I finished Deus-Ex, one of the best action FPS RPG's ever imo. what a story line. Brilliant voice acting. Brilliant character design. In fact its easily one of the best games I've played. period.

I had vampire the masquerade bloodlines, but then it wouldn't work on my earlier laptop cause of shitty graphics. and now when i've got good graphics, the disc is too scratched up to play.

I installed The Witcher yesterday and started playing. Its got a very interesting combat system with timing, various modes of fighting etc. But the intro video Jesus Christ. So freakin long, it wasn't good at all. It LOOKED brilliant however. nice CG

I'm going GBA SP shopping this weekend I can't wait. Anyone recommend some good GBA games please?

The Final Fantasy Tactics series was great, and had a couple GBA iterations, I believe. The Golden Sun series was also very popular.

Gamespot uses to have a GBA SP section. What happened to that? I thought I'd look up a list of RPG's there. Thats usually how I decide which PSP games to get.
I'll have a look around for FF for the GBA.

EDIT: Look what I found

Any idea how much GBA games cost? Online searches either come up too expensive or used
I thought GBA games weren't being made anymore

OMG! I forgot about the Golden sun series! By far one of the greatest games I have ever played, right up there with Cod4, Sc, ToD, and the big guns. I played Golden sun2 hundreds of times over.

$5 - $20? I wouldn't pay any more than $20 for a must-have GBA game.

Look into buying some flash roms. The cartridges tend to be pretty spendy, but once you have one, you can load it up with ROMs downloaded from the Internet.

Never cared for the Golden Sun series.

FF tactics was great and the Disgaea series plays very similarly but literally takes thousands of hours to truly complete.

The Star Ocean series is fantastic also.

Can't wait for ME2 though, definitely going to be worth it.
