Isn't the first Left4Dead simply a mod of the steam engine? Wouldn't it be better if they made a new halflife BEFORE they started making new versions of all the ports they made?

I hope they aren't talking #2. The first one suffers from heavy balance issues as well as poorly designed maps. The game is a complete train wreck.

Edit: The article hints at a prequel, possibly a single player storyline hinting to how the infection began. If it was a single player game that would be ok, but ffs. Don't start on another MP game until the game is balanced.

What?! Sure the maps aren't that great, but the gameplay is so much fun. As for balance. What do you mean? You play versus zombies.
 

Yeah what balance problems? Like boomers are OP or hunters are stronger standing then pouncing? I'm confused, or like assault rifle is a ridiculously strong weapon why would you ever use combat shotty?

You use the M16!? Sure one person on survival should have it but mostly people use dual pistols for range and auto-shotty's for Tanks...

This game has the best FPS multiplayer balance and gameplay... CoD4 can hide itself compare to L4D
 

You are so incredibly biased it's ridiculous. Some of the maps are so wide open it's impossible for the survivors no matter what skill level to win against a decent zombie team and some levels have so many gay corners and doors that the zombies don't have a fighting chance against a decent team. And yeah I use the m16 because everyone and their mother uses dual pistol/shotty and I don't wanna waste my time running back to save someone when I can kill the hunter on them from 1000 yards away.

On a sidenote: Valve needs to make a showing this year for Episode 3. They have been dicking about with this episodic content stuff and it's really annoying. The whole point of episodic content is to have shorter development times at cheaper cost... it's been ridiculous so far.

This should never happen, in this game you cannot be even 50 meters away from your team... otherwise you are a dick not a teammate.
A guy with a M16 is needed in vs mode, sometimes in other moments, mainly you use the auto shotty, cause it's powerful and it has a good range of fire.
In L4D you or rush and stick togethere or die

I have CoD4 it's awesome, but not that awesome as L4D... in L4D at least there is no kids cause kids don't like team based games.

Adrian, on most occasions I agree with you when it comes to games, but L4D is NOT unbalanced. Maybe a little one sided, but not enough to make it worth patching.
 

Yeah, while certain maps may favor the survivors or infected more then usual, the game is fairly well balanced. Oh, and define what you mean by "everyone just fucks with the game in console".
 

I have no clue. I tend not to play with more than 1-2 publics, though, I keep a good team with me at all times.

L4D needs more variety. More weapons would be nice. Just even different varieties of assault rifles (do you go for the accurate one that does weak damage, or the more powerful one that sucks at aiming?) or sniper rifles (faster firing vs more power).

Melee weapons would be nice too. Chainsaws, crowbars, katanas, crazy shit.

Different maps too. How about a zoo with infected animals? Motherfucking zombie lions, holy shit.

I don't play with kids, I only play with mates from my steam friends list... but if we have a public game and if we hear a kid on a mic - instant ban.
Also on PC's version you have servers with disabled cheats (valve anti-cheat servers) so no problems with hackers or cheaters (note that almost every server has valve anti-cheat system).


P.S.
I don't like playing FPS games on a xbox controller or any other, other games are cool (sports and so on) but FPS games on consoles without a mouse...I played Black it is awesome, I played Killzone it is awesome but hell I had soo many problems with adapting... If there is a great FPS on Xbox360, PS3 and PC what is the point of buying a game on a console if the one on the PC is cheaper and you have the mouse, ofc I'm gonna buy the game for the PC.
 

Yeah, in fact, beside using a cheat-allowing server, you would have to host a game locally in order to turn cheats on. Also, playing only with people on your friend list makes the game x10 better. Heck, just yesterday I had a great VS game on Death Toll. We kept wiping each other out insanely quickly and entered the final map with a mere 2 points difference score-wise. My team won it in the end, with the boat taking a tank and an incapped survivor with it. One of the best games I have played in a long time, even if the scores were horribly low.

You are blind or something? I said that I don't play with kids, I play only with my teammates from my friends list who are 18 and above...and on public games I always vote to ban the kid if I hear one

I'm 100% sure that JT, UED, RR2, Mallow and many many others do the same thing
