I'm running into problems when I try to DL games (several, not just one). My comp starts out at 160 kbs, then drops down to about 50-70 on average, but can dip as low as 20, but rarely, if ever, goes above 100. Is there any way I can fix this?

EDIT: Oddly enough, it was just at 112+ for almost a minute, but I have no idea why...
 

Could be that you need to forward the ports in your router that your torrent client uses. Eiher that, or it's the peers/seeders you're connected to.

If you're not downloading through torrents, then it's probably the hosting machine you're getting the files from.
 

Are you using torrents, direct downloads, what?

I was downloading From GamersHell, but honestly, this ports, seeders and torrents shit is beyond me... Laymans terms?
 

No worries then. Chances are the place your downloading from is simply bogged down. That or your service was just overloaded at that particular time.

Really there's not much you can do about direct downloads like that unless you can switch to a different server (mirror). EG: try finding the file you were downloading on a site like filefront and see if the speeds are faster there.
 

What people actually pay the monthly fee for that shithole filefront?!

That's what happened. I tried a different mirror and it worked like a charm at 2mb/sec.
 

Yeah if one mirror is busy then you just need to switch to a mirror that is going to be able to upload faster directly to you.
 

Uhm... spychi, filefront is free. Are you thinking of fileplanet? FF is like the best download site for gaming related stuff ever. They're always fast and they've got a ton of files -- recently downloaded a couple gigs from them for some patches and stuff.
 

yeah sorry fileplanet, I mean EA games have support servers there and if it wasn't other polish servers with patches, I wouldn't dl the patch for my EA games.
