This is a concept logo and ID for a contest being run at my university. The contest is to design a new logo to be used in the future. The "client" per se is my school's student union, shortened to SCSU. C+C welcome and encouraged

in the color one, there is no reason for the three silhouettes to be different colors. sends the wrong message (btw, if anything the outside ones should be darker since they are farther away, but no need for that). I would also rethink your bold text idea, especially on the bottom line. "Union" isn't an important word? Because that's what you're telling me. How about emphasizing the first letter of each word instead? S.C.S.U.

I like the shape around the SCSU though, that's nice. And the action girl. The whole graphic part on the left-hand side could probably stand by itself, if the cap wasn't so damned big. I think it ought to be smaller in width that the "SCSU," considering it's less important. And doing so would also rein in the size a little bit, easier on the eyes and puts everything in one glance. .

I just did this in MSpaint so you can see what I'm talking about - reduced the cap to about 60%, so that the points fall halfway between the widths of the middle and top elements. I also made the silhouettes a little shorter. And make the middle guy the same color as the outside guys (I didn't do this).
 

Thanks for the feeback Pizza. Just wondering, what kind of message did you get from the different coloured silhouettes? One of the main themes of a student union is of course diversity as they try to cater to and represent all students. How I tried to exemplify this is through darker blue and lighter blue? Not sure where I wanted to go with that either but that was the general idea (and fail).

I also had to selectively decide which word gets bolded in an alternating fashion I guess to help it stand out. Though, I will try your method and I can't believe I didn't think of that myself, sounds like a much better idea than mine too.
