For this week's game night we are going to be playing a trio of Board Games that I think will hit most interests for people. The three games Ten Days in Africa, Acquire and Robo Rally are all very different games and each are very unique in their own right. I would also just like to mention that Game Table Online have updated their servers so I have even more optimism about better performance.
About Ten Days In Africa:
Ten Days in Africa is a game that reminds me of a pair of games that I used to play when I was in my childhood. The idea of TDIA is that you represent a traveler that is trying to plan a 10 day route through the continent of Africa. You have to form a route that will allow you to make this trip either by foot, by plane or by automobile. If you've ever played the game Racko, it is actually a bit on that order as well. You get dealt 10 cards and through a series of draws and discards you are trying to set up your hand to form a proper sequence. I think it'll be an easy game to pick up.
About Acquire:
Acquire is a game that I personally have always enjoyed because it reminds me a bit of monopoly but is quicker and also a bit more random. Your objective is to be the person that makes the most $ at the end of the game through being majority and minority stockholder in chains of hotels that grow based on the number of consecutive pieces there are on the board. The key though is that you only make additional $ when hotel chains merge, so it is important to balance your $ with your spending in this game. It is a game that is predicated on good decisions and definitely a bit of luck. It's fun if you are willing to give it a chance.
About Robo Rally:
Robo Rally, the third game of the set is the one that has received the most positive acclaim from a couple of our most unskilled. The idea of Robo Rally though is that each person represents a robot that is controlled by a super computer. These super computers then race their robots on a map where you have lasers, pits, walls, conveyor belts, etc.. and the objective is to be the first robot to successfully hit the proper chain of flags. It is a really fun game even when you know you're going to lose coming into it. I promise you that if you didn't like the first two games, or aren't a huge fan of the card games that we have done in the past, you will like Robo Rally. Izzy, SuperKiller, Kacaier and Bred I know are all huge fans of Robo Rally. I am a fan as well, it's just I can't get my fandom unstuck from the wall. :0
About The Websites:
I decided to make things a lot more centralized for this particular event. I have created a site that I will be consistently updating with all of the rules for all of the games that we have played here at BlizzForums. Check it out at:
http://www.swoopzone.net/gamenight/. This web site will also list the current champion from the previous week's games and will also have a full detail of the event's history.
