Who do I cheer for?

Technically Hamilton is closer to Oakville/Burlington (where I grew up) plus I played football and street hockey in Hamilton, have family there and spend a lot of my time in Ontario in the Pittsburgh of Canada.

So who do I cheer for? Especially if Gretsky remains the coach.
 

Well, you cheer for the team that has a realistic shot of making the post-season.

Anyways what are the chances that the Phoenix Coyotes moving to Hamilton? It seems like the NHL are in opposition to this or something.
 

Balsillie will win this whether it's Phoenix or some other team, he wanted to do it with Pittsburgh, he tried to do it with another team (like Colombus or something) and he's looking very good to possibly move Phoenix. But if this falls through he'll just wait. Fact of the matter is he's way overpaying for the Coyotes with his current offer. This is a bargain bin team you buy at K-Mart's and Sam's Clubs. It's barely worth over 100 Million by everyone's account and in order to hasten the process and prove to everyone he refuses to fuck around he's DOUBLING that amount with his offer.

Why, I don't know but clearly he is serious about this. And the best part? If he can manage to get a team to Southern Ontario? I guarantee once that Human Right's Museum opens in the Peg and drums up some interest there are going to be some people interested in moving a team back to Manitoba. Would love to see 8 Canadian teams again. Or maybe a second Quebec team just don't name them the Nordiques ever again plzkthnx.

I'm going to guess if the team is worth less than $100 million dollars then the team is trash at the moment. Either way, I'd like more Canadian teams. I'm just a bit more biased towards Canadian teams.
 

That's just it the team isn't trash it just doesn't have the money to make the cap. So instead it has to rely on second tier players to win for them. And you know what? They don't do half bad. Move this team to a market like Southern Ontario where fans are itching for a winning team to cheer for that isn't Detroit. And you will find you have a BIG following relatively quickly. Plus the new Ontario rivalries would be awesome.
 

Oh come on, we all know that the real place they should move is to Mexico City. I'd love to see Don Cherry and the HNIC people have to do "Hockey Night in Mexico."

Besides, just imagine letting those soccer announcers where their long GOAAL chants do hockey!

Alright, I suppose back to reality. Latest report I heard was a slight rumbling to move back to Winnipeg. lol.

People keep saying this shit about Winnipeg and they are wrong. The administration of the NHL would prefer the team moved back to the Peg for who knows what reason. However it's the guy who purchases the teams call which is why he's fighting this in court (Balsillie) he doesn't want to move the team to a market that's proven it can't sustain a team already. Instead he'd rather move the team to a market of 4 million+ people where a team would easily fill an arena every night.

Winnipeg will have another hockey team one day, but Balsillie won't be the one doing it.
