I've grown very fond of this forum and am sad to see it being retired...at least this portion of it. It'll be difficult adjusting to a forum with such a confined width. Some posts can get rather lengthy.
 

Honestly, I never understood why Blizzforums wasn't just the official SC:L forums. Its set up just fine...

I definitely plan on looking into ways to increase the forum width in the future.

It's mainly because you guys come here instead of to SC:L. It's also because when we actually tried it it gave us severe problems i.e. those massive downtimes.

Blizzforums is far too big to be just SC:L forums...
and it's rather old and popular among many to be just SC:L's official forums..

there is a rather big portion of the members here who doesn't even enter SC forums..

If I understand the mods right, Blizzforums isn't going anywhere; it's just the Starcraft subforum. Hence, those who don't come to the Starcraft subforum won't be affected at all. Those who come exclusively for Starcraft will be forced to emigrate to SC:L. And for those who use the Starcraft subforum and the other subforums will simply have to browse two forums.

Okay guys... while you guys are great graphics designers you have no idea how bad the new SCL website is in terms of web design. It's so awkward to navigate around and parts are very very misguided.

You've focused on graphics first and content last approach, which is kinda killing the site for me.

The forums for example are TINY! And not even the main part, since the huge ass banner that does really *nothing* other than eye candy takes up half the top screen and the two massive columns of meaningless unit art take up the left and right.

Please look into optimizing the site for a content first approach rather than spreading these massively over sized banners as if you guys are a design website rather than a SC2 fan site.
 

Can I have my post count transfered too? btw will post count do anything at all at this new site?
 

I kinda gotta second this motion. Its pretty, but not all that functional. Kinda inverse-Terran.
 

I for one love the look and feel of the site, tho' I do agree that the forums could use some improvement.

No. Protoss are both. Their units work, and look hot. If the Protoss build beautiful things but which ultimately failed, THAN the comparison could be made.

I really don't think this is that big of a deal on the main page, except maybe for the banner.

However you are dead right about the forums:
Yeh, on my screen about 2/3 of the page is blank black space. That's...there's no reason to do that.

Or alternately, some clever person could probably rig up a greasemonkey script to customize the layout...Because if everyone has a big sig image there will be only 2 lines of text per screen...

Like I said, it'll be shutting down. So if there's anything you need from here I suggest getting it. You have to reregister - it's talked about in the news post.
 

I disagree. Take a look at their armor; it's all shiny and elaborate but not very functional. They rely more on their shields for protection. They built something as huge as the Colossus and only saw fit to equip it with two guns? And it's balanced on such tall legs? Knock one out and the whole thing might come crashing down. Doesn't sound practical to me.
 

Mostly because SC is not supposed to be like Warhammer where tanks have secondary weapons etc, that would ruin gameplay. I'm sure in-universe wise, there are different models for things (like the Grizzly for example).

I'm also assuming that the colossus in reality works much the same way as the Alien things from War of the Worlds, extremely deadly and resilient to heavy fire. It's just for the sake of gameplay that things are the way they are. Also, we don't know about the functionality of Protoss armour because we're not Protoss... the only thing we can really complain about is how some parts are exposed but not really how well the armour itself works.
 

Just rip those 2 columns on the sides of the forum out and expand it to the full fixed width and it should be fine.

The forums are still very much a work in process. The width will be fixed but the main scl site was designed with content functionality in mind. But our trademark has always been the art. If you look we added the "just added" at the box so you can quickly see if there is new news there or if you can go directly to the forum.

Thanks again for the hard work LoA. The new site looks awesome. Like I said earlier, the main page works fine because it's mainly a place to check for breaking news which comes at Blizzard's pace.

I'm glad you will be looking at the forum layout, though. Since there's a lot more volume of text and rapid conversation there, so the pretty layout gets in the way more. But its great to know that the team is going to be listening to feedback

Forums be broken on chrome D: Seriously. It's funky. Works in Safari though, so that's odd. I mean they're both webkit, lol.

tried to greasemonkey a better width for the forums, but then i realized I wasn't that dedicated.

Are you going to migrate the contents, or they will be just lost to entrophy?
 

Yeah that is strange, its not even like just some extra padding or anything like that its completely jacked up.
