Monitor not recognizing PC

I have a Toshiba 26HLC56 HDTV/ Monitor. I assumed I had a problem with my pc. windows seemed to be opening but would never get to the welcome screen. Instead the screen would go blank. I changed out the monitor to a known working one and everything works fine. Could my pc require a driver or some type of software to be compatable with this monitor. It has worked before with this monitor, although there were problems.

Does anything show up while booting up your PC? Like the BIOS splash screen and the boot sequence for your PC? Or no picture at all? Is there a setting to change it from TV to Monitor (like an input selection)?

What interface are you using on the monitor? (HDMI, DVI, VGA?). Can you try setting the windows resolution to something minimal on the monitor that works (800x600) and then trying the monitor you want to use?

You mean PC not recognizing the monitor...

You probably have the Windows resolution and/or refresh rate set to something that is not compatible with the monitor.

All things considered, we don't know what your system hardware specs are so I don't see how any of us can make a proper diagnosis.
Why not list your hardware specs in detail?
Thanx.
