ATI compliance with OpenGL1.4

Hi all

I play a (great) game called Oolite. The graphics on the game were never as good as the screenshots that got posted in that game's forum.

Now I learn that it could be a limitation in my own hardware - ATI drivers can't process OpenGL commands properly...?

Quote:
the fact that ATI drivers for Vista32, Vista64, XP64 do not process the following correctly ..

glTexEnvf(0x8500,0x8501,_lodBias);

means that the ATI cards are not compliant with OpenGL 1.4 core ( and later versions ).

http://www.opengl.org/registry/doc/g...0.20080811.pdf
http://www.opengl.org/documentation/...4/glspec14.pdf
http://www.opengl.org/registry/api/glext.h
#define GL_TEXTURE_LOD_BIAS 0x8501
#define GL_TEXTURE_LOD_BIAS_EXT 0x8501

this is contrary to advertised claims and capabilities reported by the cards themselves.
The card claims OpenGL2.0 capability.

Has anyone else come across this, specifically for my card and OS?

Many thanks!
